Not much happened in this chapter; Emma and Tom went to a class or two. Tom grew a bit so he's cramped, and Emma is making a second gumball for Tom.

Couldn't Tom just shrink any time he wants? He could just repeat, "I love your gum, Emma" multiple times and for each time he says it, he shrinks. I find it odd how he can't do it. Is there something preventing him from lying like that?

Regained another 12 inches? Wow, that must be one big backpack! Makes me wonder if Emma is going to have a struggle carrying Tom soon.

"Backpack positioned on the floor between Emma's legs." That almost sounds sexy. Just curious, there won't be anything sexual between these two, right? Just fun and games?

Wow, dunking kids into iced coffee! Torture on the next level right there. (Is that what detention is in this school?)

Another piece of gum? I like the idea, but Emma needs to get a bit creative soon. Otherwise I'm going to associate Emma with gum as her method of dealing with Tom. I thought the gum was just a warm-up for something else. Maybe she could color on him, dress him up, make him a puppet, something playful that only Emma could think of.

Tom claims that he has had worse mornings. I really want to know what happens during those worse days. This seems like an average day and Tom is comparing it to his worst days. Naturally, people complain about an average day because they compare it to a good day.

In addition, when Tom said that he had worse mornings, I still can't believe that this all took place in not just one day, but one morning! You do a good job adding lots of detail into this morning, but I think a quicker pace might be better.

Otherwise, good chapter. Can't wait for the next one!

He would need to say that statement to someone for it to count as a lie, though technically he wouldn't want to in this instance, because he wants to regrow enough to go to class. There won't be anything sexual with Emma in this story. We'll see her use some alternate tactics for playing with Tom later in the story. The slower pace is intentional; the whole story is only going to cover one complete day for Tom.
