Aren't there any other humans with them? You'd think they'd send more on such a mission.

Author's Response:

With new technology, I would assume the need for larger crews to operate the ship would become un-necessary, In the same way aviation has advanced over the years, Big passenger jets used to need upwards of four or even more crew in the cockpit, nowadays it can be done with just two or three. But the real reason is I simply didnt want to get repetitive and with it being a short story and all, I didnt want to rush more characters than I could fit in. I do plan a much longer sequel where the humans return and set up a base on the planet, check my Bio for a blurb.

I like the story so far. It's a nice idead, although I found the part about a new element rather unrealistic though I won't bore you with a chemistry lesson. I assume that isn't central to the story anyway, because you have the life form.

Author's Response:

Yeah, chemistry was never my strong point, I was more of a physics person. Glad you liked the first chapter. The element isnt really necessary to the story, its just gives a reason for them to be travelling a couple of light years away from Earth. Its good to see someone nit picking the science behind the story, i like that :)
