In the near future, policing had gotten a major technological upgrade. Shrinking tech made handling unruly suspects a lot easier—too easy, in fact. Officer Grace Winters loved her job, but her work-life balance was, well, a bit shaky. Take today, for instance.

A tired sigh escaped her lips as she waved a finger over the control panel, reducing the cocky teenage delinquent to the size of a Barbie doll. "Another one?" she muttered, eyeing the rebellious girl now stranded on the floor, trying to act tough despite her new, diminutive stature. Brianna—a high schooler with a long list of petty crimes but plenty of attitude—crossed her tiny arms, scowling up at Grace.

"I don’t talk to pigs," Brianna huffed.

Grace rolled her eyes. “Great. Look, I have to pick up my daughter, so just hang tight here. I’ll be back in a bit."

Unfortunately for Brianna, Grace’s "bit" was bound to stretch into much longer than she expected. And as luck would have it, Grace’s teenage daughter, Claire, had an innate curiosity about her mom’s job.

When Claire wandered into the interrogation room, her eyes lit up. “Oh my god, is this... real?” She knelt beside the tiny, angry figure of Brianna, utterly fascinated.

"Go to hell!" Brianna shouted up at her, making a brave show of defiance. Claire raised an eyebrow, unimpressed.

"You’re like, the size of a doll, and you’re still talking like that? Weird flex, but okay," Claire said, plopping down on a chair. She looked around the room. “So, uh... why exactly are you so cranky? My mom can’t be that bad.”

Brianna just scowled, pacing back and forth. “Let me out of here, and I’ll show you who’s cranky, you brat!”

Claire’s mouth twitched into a smile. “Feisty for someone so small. Fine. If talking doesn’t work...” She trailed off, her eyes twinkling with mischief.

Brianna didn’t like that look. She took a step back. “What? What are you gonna do, huh?”

"Oh, nothing," Claire said with a smirk, casually reaching down and flicking Brianna onto her back with her finger. Brianna squeaked, flailing as she tried to regain her footing, but Claire was faster. “I’m just wondering if you're... ticklish.”

“No—wait—what are you—” Brianna’s protests were cut short as Claire's fingers descended, lightly tracing along her sides. The effect was instant: the tiny delinquent burst into uncontrollable giggles, squirming as Claire tickled her relentlessly.

“Stop! No! I’m gonna—” Brianna gasped between laughs, tears forming in her eyes. The more she struggled, the more helpless she felt, her bravado crumbling under the playful assault.

Claire grinned, thoroughly enjoying herself. “Wow, for a tough girl, you sure laugh a lot!”

After what felt like hours to the tiny, giggling Brianna (but was really only a few minutes), Claire stopped, giving her a moment to catch her breath. “So... ready to talk now?”

Panting, Brianna shot her a look of pure frustration. “You’re evil.”

Claire leaned back, satisfied. “I know. Now spill, or round two is coming up.”

Claire couldn't resist a victorious grin as she watched Brianna panting, defeated but still holding onto that last bit of stubborn pride. "Alright," Claire said, cracking her knuckles like a villain from a cartoon. "Since you're so tough, I’m sure you won’t mind another round.”

Brianna’s eyes widened, shaking her head rapidly. “No! Okay, fine! What do you want to know?” she sputtered out, backing away from the giant finger that had been mercilessly tormenting her.

Claire tapped her chin, pretending to think. "Hmm, let’s start with the fun stuff. Why did you steal that hoverboard from the school? Did you even know how to ride it?" she teased, looming over the still-giggling but exhausted delinquent.

“Because it was there,” Brianna admitted through gritted teeth, looking away. "Everyone acts like I'm some kind of delinquent anyway, so why not? Not like anyone ever cares enough to ask."

Claire raised an eyebrow, surprised at the honesty. She leaned back in the chair, staring at the tiny figure below. "So... you're saying it’s just for attention?" she asked, genuinely curious now.

Brianna huffed, crossing her arms. "I don’t need a shrink-ray-sized therapist, okay?"

“Clearly,” Claire replied with a smirk. “But you’re talking now. Guess the tickles worked.” She wagged a finger playfully, sending Brianna flinching backward.

"Look," Brianna muttered, still trying to regain her composure. “Your mom's probably gonna lock me up anyway, right? Doesn’t matter what I say.”

Just as Claire was about to retort, her mother, Officer Grace Winters, entered the room. She shot a glance at the two girls, a bit surprised to see Brianna cooperating.

“Well, I have some news,” Grace said, taking a seat at the table. “Brianna, you're not getting off so easily. You’ve caused quite a lot of trouble, and we’re keeping you in detention for at least a month.”

Brianna’s heart sank. “A month? I’ll be stuck in some boring cell?” she protested.

Grace nodded, crossing her arms. “Standard procedure.”

Claire, however, had a gleam in her eye. She glanced at her mom, then back to Brianna, her wheels clearly turning. “Or… what if she didn’t have to go to a cell?”

Brianna immediately tensed, suspicious. “What are you talking about?”

Grace looked at her daughter warily. “Claire…”

“No, hear me out!” Claire said, standing up. “Why not just leave her shrunken? She could stay with me. I’ll make sure she doesn’t cause any more trouble.”

Brianna’s mouth dropped open. “What?! No way!”

Claire knelt down, smirking at the tiny girl. “Think about it. Prison is boring. You’ll be stuck there with no way out, doing nothing for an entire month. But if you stay with me, at least you’ll get some entertainment.”

Brianna scoffed. “Entertainment? What, like becoming your personal plaything?”

“Better than sitting in a cell, right?” Claire said with a grin. “Besides, I can come visit you there and tickle you whenever I want. But if you stay with me… maybe I’ll go easy on you.”

Brianna glared, feeling trapped. “That’s not much of a choice.”

Claire just shrugged. “Up to you. You can spend the month in some dull, cramped place… or you can stay with me. Your call.”

Grace, though uncertain, trusted her daughter enough to consider it. “It’s unconventional, but it might work.”

Brianna sighed, realizing she was out of options. “Fine,” she muttered, glaring up at Claire. “But no tickling.”

Claire smirked, clearly satisfied. “We’ll see.”

Grace stood, looking relieved. “Alright, then. It’s settled. Brianna, you’re staying with Claire. Don’t make me regret this.”

As Grace left the room, Brianna looked up at Claire, her heart sinking. Claire stood over her, arms crossed, a smug smile on her face.

“Well, roomie,” Claire said, “I hope you’re ready for a fun month.”

Brianna gulped. It was going to be a long thirty days.
