First, size reduction is possible. Then it is incentivized. Then it is mandated. It was always inevitable.
Dr. Katie Walker specializes in a cutting-edge, breakthrough technology her lab calls "Reduction Therapy". She has developed a theory for protecting those most vulnerable in an ever-approaching society where shrinking is commonplace...and it involves confining them somewhere very soft. She'll need years or even decades of data to formally confirm her ambitious theories, but she has a dedicated staff, eager interns, a blatant disregard for ethics, and all the financial support she could ever need.
Lori is a 40-year old single mother making it work on her own with her three daughters but with her oldest heading off to college, money is a little bit tight. Luckily for Lori, there's a perfect way to make some extra money. It involves helping a strange research and development group called R&R Laboratories, overseen by the enigmatic lead scientist, Dr. Katie Walker.
This story is part of an in-progress series called "Reduction & Relocation" which follows the path of R&R Laboratories and its lead scientist Dr. Katie Walker. The universe is expanded through her own accounts and experiences as well as those of her participants, subjects, staff, and others.
Each story is a stand-alone piece that does not require the reading of any other story in the series. However, all stories are connected to the same universe; some events in time overlap from story to story and are sometimes experienced again from different perspectives.
