“I'm sorry Mr Green...but I we do not have the knowledge of knowing as to why your height lost. I mean its pretty common for a person to lose an inch or two every twenty years but this...” said Cyndie Jones as she was going through her records.

“What are you saying?” asked Neil Green as he looked at his doctor. Cyndie put the records down and answered, “What I'm saying is you have caught a very rare illness. Its so rare that there's hardly any word of it in the medical books”

“Well what is it? What have I caught?” asked Neil as he was getting scared. “Well Mr Green, you've caught a very rare illness which according to the only few people to ever got it is known as Shrinkage Disease” answered Cyndie.

“Shrinkage Disease...what does that do?” asked Neil. “Well...its does what it sounds...the illness you got is causing your body to slowly shrink away” answered Cyndie. “Tell me that you're joking” said Neil. “If you don't believe me, wait in a couple of days, then we see” said Cyndie.

“Fine, fine...what are my options?” asked Neil as he looked at the floor. “Well, since not many people have ever caught Shrinkage Disease so it best that you should remain within this hospital. You will be housed within the special ward till we can get any results” answered Cyndie.

“That sounds as if I got to stay here, is there isn't any other options?” asked Neil as he looked at her. “Would you rather be at home doing your normal things, slowly shrinking? The people will notice a shrinking man and trust me when I say this. You don't want that kind of limelight” answered Cyndie.

“Fine...when I am going to this ward?” asked Neil as he stood up. “We can send you to it right now if you wish, the sooner the better as we can find a cure faster that way” answered Cyndie as she stood up and walked next to Neil. Cyndie was a inch taller than Neil as she's 5'7 where Neil was once 5'10.

Cyndie led Neil down the hallway to entrance to building. “So just where is this ward anyway?” asked Neil as Cyndie walked up to his car. “Don't worry about the address, I send someone to pick you up within a hour to drop you off at the hospital” answered Cyndie.

“See you later then” said Neil as he drove off home packing a few of his things together. As he was packing, there was a knock on the door. Neil walked to the front door and opened it, there standing by the entrance as a 5'9 woman with long blond hair and light blue eyes smiling at him.

“Erm yes can I help you?” asked Neil as he was taken back by the tall beauty standing before him. “Hi Neil Green, I'm Melanie Dickson. I'm here to take you in” answered the woman. “Take me in? Oh you mean the ward right?” asked Neil. “Correct Mr Green. Please, if you're ready packed, shall we go” answered Melanie.

Neil zipped up his trunk filled with things he want and carried it to Melanie's car. With that, Neil took one last look at his house as he knew that when he was to return, the house will look different. The drive took about an hour long, Melanie parked her car in the car park, got out and waited to Neil to get out.

Once out, he looked out at the building that he would be spending in for a long while. He looked at the sign building and saw that it read, St. Mercy Hospital. With that the two of them headed inside the hospital.
Height: 5'5

A day has past since Neil moved into the hospital,

“Now then Mr Green, you are to be staying here in this ward till Doctor Jones can find a cure” said Melanie as she was walking left to right as Neil was sitting on his bed. “I gather that” said Neil as he looked at her walking.

“Now then, Mr Green, you are free to wonder around ward but please don't not leave this ward as you do not want the illness you are in to be made know. Can I trust you with that task” said Melanie as she stopped walking and put her hands on her hips in front of him. “Of course” said Neil.

“Good, now then, last thing, I will be your nurse for the time you are to be here so, if things are to become hard as I know it will in the near future I will be here to help you with anything you need” said Melanie.

“You're my nurse, okay then. So what is there for a shrinking guy like myself can do around here?” asked Neil as he laid back on his bed. “For the time being, you are to watch television till Doctor Jones arrive” answered Melanie as she left the room.

Neil turned on the television that was in the room for half an hour as Cyndie enters the room. “Ah hello Mr Green, how are things today?” asked Cyndie as she looked at him as Neil sat up.

“Well I'm a man that's getting smaller, how would I meant to feel about that?” answered Neil as he looked at her. “Okay, okay...silly question to ask really. Anyway, today we need to take some blood samples along with some tests to that we can understand what we are dealing with here” said Cyndie as she smiled at him.

“Fine then, when do we start?” asked Neil as he stood up and looked at the even more taller doctor. “We start right away, now strip off your clothes and get into bed” answered Cyndie as she exit the room. Neil followed what she told him and put on a hospital gown and climbed onto the bed.

A minute later,

Cyndie came back with Melanie in uniform into the room. “Come on then” said Cyndie as Melanie took the locks off the bed wheels and pushed the bed into another room to perform tests.

After a few blood samples and tests, left Neil very tired as he pretty much fell asleep when he returned back to his room. As he was asleep, he slowly shrank down another inch.

Height: 5'4

Neil woke up to the sudden sound of his room door slamming. He sat up and tried to see who was there and saw that it was no one that was until he heard something to his left.

He looked and saw someone was hiding behind a chair. "You can come out now" Neil said as he kinder knew whom it was. "What gave it away?" said the person that climbed out from behind the chair. The person was Neil's fifteen year old sister, Tracy. "You were never good at hiding...anyway, what are you doing here?" answered Neil as Tracy pulled the chair towards the bed.

"I came here with Shannon, mum and dad wished they could be here but they are still busy with their business over the seas" answered Tracy as she smiled down at him. Before Neil could ask anything else, the door opened and in came their cousin Shannon Green whom was twenty four years old.

"How are you feeling?" asked Shannon as she smiled down at Neil with her arms crossed. "I'm feeling good...how things at home?" answered Neil as he looked at her. "Oh things are still the same, Aunt and Ucule sent their regards" said Shannon. "So what is it?" asked Tracy as she leaned onto the bed.

"So what, what?" asked Neil as he looked at confused. "Well, the doctor phoned us explaining as to why you're not home yesterday and said that you've caught something that needs to be checked in" answered Shannon. "Oh I believe that's where I'm here to explain things" said Cyndie as she entered the room.

"Well?" asked Shannon as she looked at her. "Well, it best if you come to my office" answered Cyndie as she looked at Shannon and left the room which she followed. the tow of them entered Cyndie's office. While inside, Cyndie explained everything she knows about the Shrinkage Disease, what it does to him and asked her not to tell anyone outside the family.

After half hour of explaining things, the two of them entered back into Neil's room.

"The doctor told me everything...can I see it?" asked Shannon. "See what?" asked Tracy not knowing what she was on about. "If what the doctor says is true...Neil should be smaller" answered Shannon. "What?" said Tracy still not knowing what was going on. Taking a deep breath, Neil stood out of bed and just stood there as Shannon walked towards him.

Neil looked up at Shannon as she was five inches taller that him now as she is 5'9 tall. "Oh my..." said Tracy as she shot out of her chair with her hands over her mouth as she noticed how small Neil was to her. Tracy slowly walked towards Neil and saw that she was three inches taller than him as she is 5'7 tall.

"Okay, okay, okay" said Neil as he sat back down onto the bed. "Don't worry Neil we will find a cure to stop you shrinking" said Cyndie as she tried to make him feel better.

For the rest of rest of visiting hour, Tracy and Shannon made some jokes about Neil being smaller

"Well its time for we to go, we come back at three o'clock visiting hour Neil" said Tracy as she and Shannon left the room.

Not knowing what to do, Neil took a moment to think and decided to explore the ward. Neil took a men's nightgown which he noticed was that it was kinder big on him.

He left the his room and began to explore the hallways of the ward.

As he was wondering down the hall, he felt a smack on the back of his head. Neil stopped in his tracks, looked behind him while rubbing the back of his head and saw that it was that it was a young fifteen year old girl with long black hair. Neil looked up and saw that she was the same height as Tracy.

"What are you looking at boy?" asked the teen girl as she looked down at him with her hands on her hips. "Me...what about you?" answered Neil as he looked at her all angry. "What about me kid? You just looked at me...beside, you're too young for me" said the girl as she walked up close to Neil.
"Too young...too young...you're too young! I'm twenty one years old!" snapped Neil as he took a step back.

"Oh my...Arn't you a little small to be twenty one?" said the girl as she tried not to laugh.

Neil tried not to snap at the fifteen year old so he just turned round and walked off. "Hay, hay!" said the girl as she chased after him. "What do you want?" asked Neil as he looked up at her as the two of them were still walking. "I'm sorry...I was in a bad mood. I didn't to make you feel upset about your height" said the girl as she looked down at him.

"Just to let you know...I wasn't aways this small" said Neil. "Oh really...what happened then?" asked the girl. "I was once 5'10 but I gotten something that well as you can see" answered Neil as he looked at her. "I'm not going to catch it am I?" asked the girl as she looked worried. "Well no...as you can see, its very rare and well...I think you're safe from it" answered Neil.

"I'm Scarlet by the way" said the teenage girl as she and him stopped walking. "I'm Neil" said Neil as he shook Scarlet's hand and the two of them shook.

With that the two of them carried on walking through the ward, as they were walking; they heard a woman's voice say, "What are you doing wondering around here?" Neil stopped walking and looked towards where the voice came from. He saw that it was Melanie with her arms crossed as she walked towards the two of them.

"Hi, I'm Scarlet" said Scarlet as she waved at Melanie. "Melanie, Neil's nurse" said Melanie as she smiled at her. "I was board, so I thought that I could go sight seeing this ward" answered Neil to her question before. "If you were board, then you should have called me" said Melanie. "Are you going to take me back to my room?" asked Neil.

"Only if you wish, you want to take a look around the ward, then allow me to give you the tour" answered Melanie as she walked next to him. With that Neil and Scarlet followed her. The three of them walked through the Ward which is on the third floor of the hospital. They looked out of the window doing the hallway and could see a green garden with a fountain along with people sitting on benches.

"Wow" said Scarlet as she pressed herself against the window. "Well, when Neil is allowed out, you two can go out in that garden one day" said Melanie as she rest her left hand onto Neil's left shoulder. Neil started to make a huge yawn. "Feeling tired? Best go to bed" said Scarlet as she looked at Neil.

With that, Melanie lead the way back to Neil's room.

As they got there, Neil went into his bed. He looked at the door and saw that Scarlet and Melanie was looking at him. "Well then, best give you your sleep" said Melanie as she left the room with Scarlet. "See you later" said Scarlet as she left with Melanie.

As Neil fell asleep, he slowly shrank down another inch.

 

Height: 5'3

Neil woke up with the sound of whispers echoing in his room. He slowly opened his eyes and saw a young girl looking at him. "Erm, hello?" asked Neil as he sat up. The girl didn't say anything as she just stood there looking at him funny. "Kellie! Where are you!" echoed Cyndie's voice. "She's in here" answered Neil as he saw the door was open.

"Oh,sorry if she woke you Neil" said Cyndie as she entered his room. Neil noticed that another girl the same age as Kellie was with her. "Oh right, you three haven't met yet right?" said Cyndie as she got the two girls to stand next to each other. "Hi, I'm Neil" said Neil as sat up. "I'm Kellie" said the girl that Neil first saw.

"Allison" said the other girl. "Sorry about this, I had to babysit my sisters today" said Cyndie as she held onto her two sisters. "Its alright, so what's to happen today then?" asked Neil. "Well, that's up to you really. I'm stuck looking after these girls while the others are looking at the cure. You want to hang out with us?" answered Cyndie as she smiled down at Neil

"Sure I love to" said Neil as he got out of bed and stood in front of them. Neil saw how small he is now compare to Cyndie when he first met her. To his delight, he was still taller than the two girls as he was a head taller. But deep down, he felt that one day he would have to look up at them. "He's small isn't he" whispered Kellie to Allison. "Even Cyndie taller than him" spoke Allison back.

"Come one you two, please be nice" said Cyndie as she looked at her two sisters. "Its fine, I guess I have to get use to it as I'm going to the kick of all size jokes" said Neil as he smiled at the three of them. "Right then, put your nightgown on come with us to the canteen" said Cyndie. Neil went and got his nightgown on and went with the three of them towards the canteen.

As they were making there way there, a woman in a nurse uniform stopped them and said, "Doctor Jones, you have a visitor" "Have I, okay, can you three make it to the canteen without?" said Cyndie as she looked at the Neil and her two sisters. "Okay, see you in a bit" said Neil as he and the two girls made there way towards the the canteen. "Where's the visitor?" asked Cyndie as she looked at the nurse.

"She's in your office" said the nurse. "Okay thank you" said Cyndie as she headed towards her office. As she made it to her office, she saw a woman with long ginger hair sitting on a chair next to her office. "Cyndie Jones long time no see" said the woman as she stood up and made her towards her. "Well, if it isn't Jessica Reeds" said Cyndie as the two of them hugged each other. 

"Thank you for coming over" said Cyndie as the two let each other go. "No problem, I gather that you got that report about my strange case?" asked Jessica. "Yes...I saw the report, thought that it was strange for a seventeen year old to suddenly shrink down to be nothing more than three foot" answered Cyndie as she say down as well as Jessica.

"Looks like I'm not the only one with a sizeable case" said Jessica as she smiled at her. Cyndie giggled a little before answering, "Yes...guess you can say that. You already got a shrunken teen while I have the incredible shrinking man" With that the two of them laughed.

"Still can't figure out as to why that boy shrunk but based on that shrinking man, I say that two are some what connected" said Jessica. "Connected? Hmm...if that could be the case, well I do have the blood sample from him" said Cyndie as she went to fridge that was in the office. "And I have a blood sample from the teen" said Jessica as she took out a test tube out from her bag.

"Then if we are to send these two to the lab and see if they somewhat connected" said Cyndie as Jessica handed her the blood sample. "Then we might have an answer to our little problem" said Jessica. "Yeah, guess you're right. You wish to meet him?" said Cyndie as she stood up. The two of them walked out of the office. Cyndie saw a nurse and ordered her to take the blood samples to the lab.

"Well do you?" asked Cyndie as she looked at Jessica. "Sure love to see the little man" answered Jessica. With that the two of them headed towards the canteen.
