All of this happened simply because the giants refused to do the gods' bidding: the gods wanted the giants to wipe out the humans—whom the giants viewed as cute little creatures. The giants refused and defied the gods, for they regarded humans as equals and preferred to share friendship and love with them. Finally, Aphrodite—the goddess of love, revered and cherished by both humans and giants—put an end to the conflict, unable and unwilling to watch it continue any longer. Thus, Aphrodite drew a boundary between the realm of humans and the realm of giants in the form of a magical energy barrier; This means that no human can enter and no giant can leave until humanity has learned to live with the giants in peace, friendship, love, and harmony, and is no longer influenced by the other gods.
