I just finished your story, and I’m blown away by how effortlessly you blend horror with humor, while creating such rich, visceral emotions for the reader. I was particularly struck by the moment when the tiny scientists are first faced with the candy bowl. The way you described their desperate hunger, this primal, all-consuming desire to fill their stomachs with something, anything that resembled food, was so emotional. It’s not just about survival—there’s something deeply tragic about their situation, how even the smallest moments of indulgence are fraught with consequence. You gave them humanity in the most gut-wrenching way.
The other moment that really hit me was when Jessica casually ignores the tiny screams in her candy sack. There's a terrifying nonchalance in how she handles these lives, so small and fragile. The way the characters navigate their own power and obliviousness to others' suffering was masterfully done. It’s a brilliant exploration of dominance, but also the complexities of consent and awareness. You nailed that uneasy feeling of being utterly at someone’s mercy, and I’m here for it.
