You simply must continue this story. You just got to the good part.
If I had to make a suggestion, maybe try starting off with some size / strength comparisons. It would make sense in the story, given the scenario and their previous conversation. And I think it would help cement a sense of actual scale for the reader.
Anyway, love your prose. Keep going.
