I like how you've shown that other families in  the time put universe aren't as bad as the family from the main series. Other parents in the setting actually seem to want the best for their sons.

At least Cain has a step sister that seems to care about him. Though admittedly, they are both getting something out of this.

I do wonder why their parents are more lenient on her if she really is a freeloader.  Then again, maybe they're being hard on him because of how she turned out.
