The suspense again... this is getting more and more interesting. Will Bridget ask Lexi to give her a session? But Lexi doesn't know how to inflict "pain that causes empathy with those you hurt." She got over that pain when she was out for two years. Not to mention that inflicting that pain on her sister is…so hard for her. Let's see what it will be in the next chapter.

Author's Response: These are definitely fair considerations to have, if Lexi was put in a position like that.

I read the whole thing in one sitting.  A masterfully poignant follow-up!

I'm sure Kayla answered Bridget's call right away because she still feels guilty about the whole situation It’s her organization that fucked up, after all. It does make me wonder if there have there been any institutional changes to Aegis. I doubt this is the first time an innocent person has been punished (Omegas and Kayla aren't omniscient) and it certainly won’t be the last without any changes. This whole situation might have been avoided if Omegas didn't play the role of judge, jury, and (metaphorical) executioner without any sort of trial or accountability. I have a dogshit memory, so maybe changes to Aegis were covered in a different story.

I'm a bit surprised Bridget didn't want to be a Beta permanently. If she were, she would never again be able to hurt someone like she did. I guess that might be too drastic, even considering the severe guilt she's carrying.

Bridget is clearly gonna ask Lexi to do something drastic. Maybe put her through a session and don’t go easy on her? Although Lexi isn’t trained for that. And it would be pretty messed up to ask Lexi to torture her beloved sister. But Lexi did say she’d do anything. And Bridget did say “it should’ve been me”. I dunno, feels like an option that's on the table. I'm not sure what it would fix, though. The underlying issue of the whole situation is the betrayal of trust Bridget inflicted, which hasn't been addressed at all yet. There's just no way the healing can be complete until it is.

Author's Response: Good thoughts to have. I can't speak to any specific changes that might've happened at Aegis as a result of the events of Inheritance, so you haven't missed anything. Bridget's definitely building up to something here.
