@titanicLove your analysis, man! It's a joy to read.

Just got back from college so I've got a little more downtime than I know what to do with this week before work starts. This story has made that a little easier, so I appreciate it.

If we're sharing our theories about Roxanne, I agree with most of what has been theorized so far. Camille's partially coherent mumblings have helped quite a bit!

With Roxanne being so scholarly and starting her Sophomore year of college at 17 years old, I believe that she might have always been a bit of a wallflower that unfortunately, due to her record-breaking growth, has been thrust into the spotlight and overwhelmed by the unwanted attention and envy from her older college peers. It must be so exhausting to deal with, especially with her being younger than everyone else and separated from her support system - her family - while studying there (on a different planet!).

Camille's defense of Roxanne, while also warning Theo in abundance to be careful around other big girls, leads me to believe that when they get to know each other better she'll be a sweetheart he can fully trust and rely on. That's not to say I think everything will go smoothly, however. She is still young, hormonal, and dealing with quite a lot.

I'm not entirely sure what to make of Roxanne's dislike of Diane yet. It's possible that Roxanne disapproves of Diane's demeanor toward the guys, which would be optimistic, but it could also be because Diane is one of the "competitive bitches" Camille was talking about, and just generally seems like a bit of an asshole.

I'm the most worried about the "on thin ice" line, especially since it comes in conjunction with "pissing us off until we lose control." It makes perfect sense for her to be testy, and I can imagine that after being bombarded with gawking gazes and hushed whispers on the long journey from the spaceport to her apartment, Roxanne would have little patience for a new male roommate with wandering eyes and a tendency to fall on his ass when meeting big girls.

Maybe Theo should ask Camille for Roxanne's number so they could at least text a little to break the ice before she arrives and he is inevitably a trembling, bumbling mess. Perhaps I'm not giving  Theo enough credit, but regardless, it seems like a good idea to prepare him a little more at the very least. Can't wait!

Theo took being tossed a couple stories into the air awfully calmly. He really does trust Camille a lot already. That was a bit presumptuous of Camille to start throwing him like that without any warning or explanation, but it worked out. I wonder if this was the kind of thing she meant about girls being aggressive when they were talking at the restaurant earlier. I interpreted it as malicious, but maybe it’s just playful. Good on Gen for helping him out without messing with him, she’s really changed fast.

“Oh, outside I could get you going up maybe forty feet.” Based on the strength she’s displayed so far, Camille’s really underestimating herself here. I’m not sure whether I feel more jealousy or pity for dudes on Atlasia (that’s a lie, it’s obviously jealousy.)

My prediction is Roxanne is gonna be a genius academically, but maybe a bit of a disaster socially/emotionally. I’m guessing she got into college early, but she's a “square peg in a round hole” and just doesn’t fit in yet. Her body is not at all gonna match her maturity. I have no idea about the "competitive bitches" and "big mad" part though.

Despite seeming pretty great overall, I had a couple doubts about Camille earlier in the story. The threats regarding her sister seemed a bit over the top, and her intent when she chased Theo down was questionable. Now, though? Those doubts are gone, Camille is just fantastic. She really appears to be doing everything with the best of intent.

That raises its own questions, though. Why does she feel the need to give him so many warnings?

  •   “Because big girls can get aggressive when they want. And you are not going to be able to put up a fight. You’re just not. Not even with weapons”
  •   “if anyone screws with you, we’re the ones to handle it. If you ever feel unsafe or unsure, call one of us.”
  •   “I want you to try to be on your toes with all these girls here. And the occasional guy. They can be dangerous to you.”
  • “Atlasian guys are terrible at that age. But that's nothing compared to how bad girls get once they get through that first growth spurt.”
  •   “Seriously, be careful of strange big girls. You kind of worry me.”
  •   Plus her chasing him down to hammer home the size of the gap between them.
  •   Plus Diane asking Camille instead of Theo if she could pick him up.

I dunno, it feels like there's a bit of an ominous undercurrent flowing here. That might just be me overthinking things, though. I'm sure there are shitty Atlasians just like there are shitty regular people and maybe that's what Camille is cautious of. However, the part of my brain that has read a bunch of other stories where things are worse than they seem is sending out warning bells all over the place. We'll see.

Overall, this is one of my favorite stories that is getting regular updates. Good work.

With everything we know about her now, I would like to present my theory on Roxanne:

I think Roxanne is a former nerd, explaining why she's already in college, and got bullied due to being short, with Diane perhaps being one of the said bullies, only for her to end up outgrowing and turning the tables on her tormentors.
However, as a result, she has now become something of a bully herself by floundering her size and teasing others for being "small" compared to her, causing her to end up teasing Theo for being "tiny".

Personally, the more I learn about Roxanne, the more I get excited about her debut!
I also hope that, when she finally appears, she will end up being even bigger than what Camille and Gen remember, having hit her second growth spurt while away!

(Hope this gets a response!)
