Arella might have the psychic ability known as "retrocognition." The rare few who purportedly have it can envision the past. Usually in the form of psychometry (getting psychic vibes from objects previously touched by someone else).

Well although my story doesn't really explain it, I'm using the dreams and visions prophecy from the Old Testament book of Joel to account for Arella's abilities.
