I don't understand why you tagged this as gentle. Honestly, with a title like forgiveness, I expected something very different, so maybe a bit of the blame lies with me. But I still don't think the tag fits, at all.

Is it the last interaction? The one that lasts a few paragraphs out of the entire story? Which ends with the main character dead?

Yeah, I don't see it.

Loved that Cassie saw him and had mercy on him as a bug and that she stepped on him. Wonderful story.
