Chapter 1: How It Begins by YuriGoodness
Author's Notes:

Here we are, chapter one!

I've been reading a lot of revenge stories and reincarnated manga, so I thought this could be fun to try.

“Primavella Jangard, you have committed numerous atrocities against Felicia. The witnesses here tonight have provided their statements, and given irrefutable evidence. You have revealed yourself to be a contemptuous individual, and unworthy of the title of the ‘Sacred One.’ Therefore, I announce the annulment of our engagement!”

The nobles in attendance gasped and murmured among themselves. This was the graduation ceremony for Academy of Magic, the most prestigious school in the country of Norn. Only the elite and the talented were accepted and trained how to become a certified mage.

And during the final ball before school ends, such a scene took place.

Such a common, predictable, overplayed scene. After all, so many otome games have this kind of scene. But this one isn’t an otome game.

“Do you have anything to say for yourself, Primavella?” the imposing royal asked, taking a step forward. The main romantic interest of the game, a tall blonde with an icy blue glare. The crown princess, Gremoria Norn.

“Do not just stand there! Confess your sins!” yelled a large, muscular redhead. Fiery green eyes glared down in a judgemental fashion. The knight prodigy and likely next head of the Royal Knights, Leona Katswell.

“Do give her a moment. Her entire evil plan has just been exposed, so it’s unlikely she’ll accept reality right away” another said with a smirk. A gloved hand pushed a pair of large glasses over light purple eyes. Long, platinum blonde hair flowed down her back. The future prime minister of the country, Delilah Firbane.

“Prima…enough is enough. Confess, beg for mercy, and you can still redeem yourself…” a kind hearted woman called out weakly. Her brunette bob haircut framed her concerned face, her purple eyes misty with held back tears. The adopted sister of the accused, Cayna Jangard.

All the eyes were settled on a single person, Primavera Jangard. She stood with her head held high as she looked up at the group of people standing on the staircase. Studied their faces one by one, her piercing scarlett eyes seeming to look straight through them. They settled on Gremoria…or rather, the person standing behind her.

Light pink hair, teary golden eyes…the heroine of the game, Felicia Daude. The person that was supposed to usurp her as the Sacred One. When she met Primavella’s eyes, she recoiled and clutched tightly to Grimoria.

Gremoria clenched an angry fist and slammed it against the railing of the staircase.

“Speak! By my authority as a member of the Royal Family, I order you to confess to everything!” she roared angrily. A shockwave of golden magical energy swept through the room. Many witnesses began to tremble, some even began to kneel. But Primavella stood unwavering in place.

She simply sighed and brushed one of her long, dark locks of hair from her face.

“I have nothing to confess, your majesty. Please supply sufficient evidence to back up your claims” she replied calmly. Grimoria glared spitefully at her fiance as she snapped her fingers.

Delilah stepped forward, raising a crystal. Pouring in some magical power, light shot out and displayed a chart in the air.

“As you can see here, I’ve done an investigation of Ms. Jangard’s finances. It seems that her assets have grown massively…including in increments that Ms. Daude’s money was stolen. Do you have any explanation for this data?” she asked, pushing up her glasses with a cocky smile.

“Circumstantial at best. Perhaps the money was used in one of my businesses? I have no way of telling one gold coin apart from another, after all” Primavella said calmly. Delilah clicked her tongue and sneered in response.

As she dispelled the chart, Leona stepped forward.
“I, on my honor as a knight, swear to tell the complete truth!” she shouted earnestly. “Several weeks before, I saw Primavella standing over Felicia! Felicia was injured, and Primavella was preparing to cast a spell towards her when I stepped in and defended her! I clearly witnessed Primavella assaulting the defenseless Felicia in cold blood!” she shouted loud enough for everyone to hear.

“Once more, circumstantial. You arrived at the end of the incident and saw my magical power forming. Are you an expert in magical formulae? You have no idea what spell I was casting. I could have been attempting to heal Ms. Daude. Or perhaps defending myself against her. You have no way of knowing, since you merely injected your opinion of what happened after stepping in.”

“What was that?! Say that again you bitch!” she screamed, placing her hand on the hilt of her sword.

Gremoria placed a hand on her shoulder, pulling her back. Instead, Cayna stepped forward.

“I…have to confess to what I witnessed as well…” she said weakly. The princess cast a spell to amplify her voice across the room.

“When…when Prima came home from the Solstice Ball…she declared that she hated Felicia. She wouldn’t tell me anything about why, just that she would always consider the Daude household her enemy. I tried not to think about it…but I was there yesterday. When Prima…cornered Felicia…and threatened her…”

Cayna held up a crystal, projecting a captured image to the crowd. It was Primavella holding a dagger to Felicia’s throat behind the dormitories.
“She said…that she wouldn’t stop with Felicia. She’d erase the entire Daude household from the world…” she squeaked out, tears flowing down from her eyes.

Now, for the first time this night, Primavella was visibly shaken. Though from the firm evidence, or having her sibling be the one presenting it, it was hard to tell what hurt her more.

Gremoria walked down the stairs, sneering at Primavella.

“You have your evidence. Confess to everything, and I may still show mercy” she demanded once more. Primavella looked up at the tall woman…and began to beat her wings. She fluttered off the floor, rising to meet her gaze.

After all, as a Sacred One, Primavella was born as a fairy. A mere three inches tall with black and red butterfly wings behind her. Yet an amount of magical power to level cities dwelled in that feeble frame.

Once eye level, Primavella looked Gremoria in the eyes without blinking.

“Everything I have done is for the sake of this kingdom. I have committed no sin worth confessing towards Ms. Daude, nor anyone else” she said firmly.

The onlookers were shocked at the firmness of that statement. Murmurs erupted once more. Delilah made a disgusted expression. Katia clenched her teeth and gripped her sword. Cayna began to fully weep.

Gremoria refused to break her eye contact with Primavella, even as she sighed.

“Then, I am left with no choice. By my authority as the 1st Princess of the Norn, I declare Primavella to be a false Sacred One. All rights shall be stripped of her from that title. She is to be excommunicated from the Church of the Spirits, and stripped of her citizenship in Norn” she declared openly. Gasps erupted from everyone at the severity of the punishment she was receiving. Primavella clenched her tiny fists so hard, blood began to drip from them.

“And lastly…” Gremoria said, a wicked smile spreading across her face. “As a non citizen of Norn, trespassing in the Academy of Magic is strictly banned” she declared. Her hand shot out, grabbing Primavella out of the air.

“U-unhand me at once!” she screamed, struggling to get out of the princess’s gloved hand. But Gremoria ignored her, using her free hand to reach around to her wings. Pinching the tops, she ripped the top off of her delicate wings clean off. Primavella screamed in pain as the princess chuckled at the reaction.

“Therefore, you are sentenced to death!”

Gremoria opened her mouth wide as she began to raise Primavella up above her head. The small woman screamed and fought as she saw what her former fiance was trying to do. But she had no power to stop it from happening.

A Sacred One cannot bring out their magic with damaged wings. It’s why they never go out without a loyal protector. But her protector was already…

Once Primavella was directly above Gremoria’s mouth, the grip was released. She could only flail in the air and she was dropped directly on top of her pink tongue. The lips sealed shut as soon as contact was made. Plush pink lips clamped down on her legs at the knee. A girly giggle escaped her as she began to suck her legs in as well.

Everyone in the room stood in stunned silence as the princess tasted her former fiance, moaning and pushing her around in her mouth for half a minute. When she was finally satisfied, she leaned her head back.

GLCK!

The swallow seemed to echo across the room, and some could swear they heard muffled screaming. The princess let out a satisfied breath and turned back to the staircase with a satisfied smile.

“Felicia, come here” she called out gently. The small woman began to fly over on her lovely white and pink dragonfly wings. She landed daintily on the princess’s palm, eliciting a loving smile from her.

“To all in attendance, justice has been served here today! From today onwards, Felicia is to be known as the Sacred One! Not only that…she is to be my fiance! If anyone has any complaints of what happened here today, speak now!” she ordered to the room.

Everyone stood in stunned silence, looking amongst themselves. No one uttered so much as a whisper, afraid of opposing the princess. Many looked towards her stomach, as if fearing a similar fate as the one she was supposed to love.

The first noise to break the silence was clapping from the stairwell. Leona was clapping her hands with a bright smile on her face.

“Congratulations, Your Majesty!” she called out. Delilah began to join in the applause, signaling everyone else in the room to join in. The ballroom was soon booming in clapping and congratulatory shouts.

Only two inside the ballroom didn’t congratulate the happy couple. One was Cayna, still weeping over the fate of her sister. The other was, of course, Primavella herself. Inside the princess’s stomach, she was screaming and fighting for her life.

No matter how she hit the ever shifting walls, there was no effect. She wasn’t even causing an upsetting feeling to Gremoria. Her lovely dress was beginning to burn off of her body from the acids, and her skin was getting irritated.

Tears streamed down her face as she gave a beastly scream of terror. The villainess died a pathetic death, slowly digested by the princess she so dearly loved when they were younger…

“DON’T GIVE ME THAT BULLSHIT!” Katie screamed as she chucked her controller on the ground. She shot up from her chair, flipping off the TV screen as it displayed a CG of Gremoria lovingly nuzzling Felicia.

“HOW THE FUCK IS THIS SUPPOSED TO BE A HAPPY MOMENT?! YOU PIECE OF SHIT PRINCESS! DIE! DIE A SLOW AND PAINFUL DEATH!” she shouted with all her might.

She started catching her breath, still pissed at how things turned out.

Katie was a pretty typical college student in her final year. One thing she enjoyed a lot was playing her precious Yuri games.

Indeed, the scene from before was from an incredibly popular yuri dating game that was recently a few months back. The Fairy’s Heart took place in the fantasy kingdom of Norn, where players could control Felicia Daude.

Felicia was a cute and innocent girl that knew nothing of noble society, since she was raised in the woods with her mother after an incident when she was younger. But her bright personality uplifted the spirits of the romance targets, who couldn’t help but fall for her.

Though she experienced many struggles whenever the villainess, Primavella, appeared. The Duke’s daughter was born as a Sacred One and engaged to the crown princess since they were young.

At the appearance of a second Sacred One, she began to bully her out of jealousy and insecurity. Messing with her belongings, publicly degrading her, even threatening her life. But in their final year, she was executed by the crown princess for her crimes.

Although…all of that wasn’t actually true.

“This route was no good either, huh? Well, at least I get to see their reactions again…” Katie mumbled to herself as she began to speed through the next few weeks of in game time.

After Primavella died, the princess fell ill. The mana she absorbed through digestion was supposed to make her more powerful, but it was too much to handle. She fell into a coma that very night due to the overload.

Though it was likely for the best, because the king had her detained for her actions. She did not have the authority to punish Primavella, let alone kill the country’s established Sacred One. He was deeply saddened with the reality that he may have to order his daughter’s execution if she ever woke up…

Soon after, Felicia vanished from the academy. Everyone was thrown into a panic, since the Sacred One was missing. The mana in the air became thinned in less than a week without her presence.

Several weeks later, the neighboring Branto Empire declared war with Norn. Without a Sacred One there to defend them, they were quickly on the losing side of the war. Katia lost her life on the battlefield, beheaded by the enemy’s magical knights.

Delilah was sent to negotiate peace with their commander, but instead was enslaved by the empire’s noble in charge of diplomacy. She was tortured daily before she finally bit off her own tongue to bleed out.

Cayna was so overcome with grief and fear, she drank poison to pass away peacefully. When the enemy set fire to the Janguard mansion, not even her body was left.

Gremoria awoke as the capital was being besieged. Using her newly absorbed power, she fought hordes of soldiers alone. The battle may have turned the other direction…until Felicia reappeared.

The princess was so relieved, she failed to notice until it was too late.

Felicia was standing as a regular human, with no wings, and wielding a sword. She gave the princess one final kiss as she drove her sword through her heart. Gremoria died, her face frozen in an agonized expression of betrayal as she went.

That was the big twist of the game that players couldn’t believe. Felicia was a spy sent by the Branto Empire the entire time. The heroine was the villain all along, setting up the country to be taken over. She used potions and spells to keep herself shrunk, and fake wings to appear as though she was flying with them instead of the levitation spell.

And Primavella, that cold hearted villainess, was falsely executed because of it. She was the true Sacred One all along, and knew Felicia to be false. That’s why she targeted her, to try and find proof.

But she was too kind hearted, and gave her too many chances to turn herself in or leave the country. Before she realized it, everyone she loved had turned against her.

Leona, her designated protector knight, turned her back on her after she believed Primavella to be evil.

Delilah, her oldest friend, couldn’t stand Primavella’s stubbornness and bullying. After a misunderstanding, she began to outright hate her.

Cayna, her beloved adopted sister, couldn’t stand seeing her sister conduct misdeeds any longer. Breaking their promise to always trust one another, she worked with Felicia to gather evidence against her.

Even Gremoria, who she treasured dearly since their engagement, murdered her in such a brutal manner.

It was a true tragedy that enraged fans. It had been a bestseller because of how lovely it was up until that point. But once people reached one of the endings, they couldn’t stand playing any longer. Every route led to ruin.

Though, Katie still continued to play.

“I see…so this route is no good too, huh?” she mumbled to herself as the ‘The End’ displayed on the screen. She had played through every major route so far, and was currently trying to find a happier ending.

No matter who was romanced, Felicia used them to bring the country to ruin. The happiest ending was where Felicia failed to romance anyone, and the capture targets went on to live miserable, loveless lives.

It clearly wasn’t a happy ending, but it’s the only one where they don’t all die.

Katie did find a few hidden scenarios from her repeated playthroughs, and had nearly mapped out the entire game. She was hopeful this time, since she had discovered some documents of the Daude family’s involvement with the Branto Empire. But the heroine destroys them automatically, so they can’t be given away.

Multiple attempts at getting people to accompany her and then discover them also don’t end well. She hides them so they can’t see it, then destroys them later.

So far, Katie had cleared the game 149 times. She made a fully charted document of what each choice does. There was only one last string of unknowns to find out. She quickly started another New Game+ to get started on it once more.

She skipped the first opening scenes, knowing it by heart by now. Skipping through dialogue she already knew, reading only the new info made her play the days quickly. Within a few hours, she was halfway through.

By the time she cleared the game for the 150th time, the sun had set outside. Her red, strained eyes were locked onto the ‘The End’ screen.

“...that’s it. That’s everything that could possibly happen” Katie said with a defeated sigh. She had officially made a 100% clear of the game, and there was no happy ending for Primavella. Felicia always manages to ruin everything.

Katie pulled out her phone, staring at the screen for a minute. Her screensaver was a lovely smile that Primavella gives in one of the very first CGs. It was so breathtaking that Katie became obsessed with her character. It wouldn’t be absurd to say she was Primavella’s #1 fan in the world.

“Fucking devs…can’t give even a single good thing for Prima fans? Not one happy ending for the real heroine? They could have at least made a dlc or announced a sequel…” she grumbled, knowing there would never be an update.

The studio that made this announced that this was the final product, and no new content would be created for it. They were moving on to other projects, and this likely would never be picked up again.

Now that she confirmed there was no hidden route to give Prima a happy ending…Katie couldn’t help but feel hollow inside.
“What the hell should I do now…” she mumbled to herself, getting ready to close the game. But as she moved to reach the exit window, a notification popped up.

Conditions Met.

Primavella Route Unlocked

Proceed?

Katie sat staring at the message for a solid minute, her mind overloaded to fully process it.
“I can…save her…?” she mumbled to herself, a few tears filling her eyes. She picked up her controller and selected Yes on the screen.

Primavella Jansgard’s fate has been sealed.

Attempting to alter fate is dangerous.

Are you prepared to stake your life on giving her happiness?

Are you willing to give up your current world for it?

She backed up a little at that message. What the hell kind of follow up is this? Maybe it’ll delete all her data if she fails in this playthrough? Katie smirked and gripped her controller tighter.

“Are you kidding me? There’s no way I’d ever lose! I know more about this world than the devs! I don’t give a damn about the risks, I’ll make sure Prima ends up happy this time!” she shouted as she confirmed her choice.

Is that so?

I’m glad!

Prima is my beloved child…but she cannot face this threat.

She was born in the wrong era.

Thus, her turn shall be skipped this time.

Instead, I wish you luck.

Primavella “Katie” Jansgard.

The TV screen suddenly let out a bright white light. Katie screamed and covered her eyes, panicking at what was happening. She could feel something surrounding her body and her mind was flooded with fog. She could only last a few seconds before her mind faded into inky darkness…

“....y!”

“...dy!”

“...ady!”

“MILADY!”

Katie shot up when she heard the booming voice shouting near her. She looked around in a panic, gasping for air. There was a faint pain in the back of her head, and her eyes were adjusting to opening into bright light.

It took a few seconds, but she slowly began to adjust her vision as she heard someone take a relieved breath above her.

“Milady! I’m so happy you’re alright! I was so worried when you wouldn’t open your eyes!” the voice continued. Milady? Who was she talking about? It definitely couldn’t be her…or could it be some weirdo?

She did feel something soft and warm underneath her. Did she pass out while playing the game? Was she in the hospital? Maybe this was a part of a dream…but the pain she felt was definitely real…

“Mistress Primavella, are you ok? Please, say something!” the voice said pleadingly. What? Primavella?

Katie’s eyes finally adjusted to the light. Hovering directly over her was the face of a beautiful young woman with tears in her eyes. She had short, dirty blonde hair and cute brown eyes. She’d honestly be very cute…IF HER FACE WASN’T THE SIZE OF A BILLBOARD!!!

Looking around in a panic, Katie found herself in a panic. She was currently laying in this giantess’s hands! She immediately backed up in a panic, yelping when she felt the edge of her fingers behind her. Looking over the edge, she saw a drop that would be hundreds of feet to her.

Her heart racing, she looked back up at the giant woman’s face with an expression of terror.
“I-I’m sorry! P-p-please don’t hurt me!” she begged, raising her arms over her head in a defensive pose. The giantess gasped a bit, leaning her face in closer.

“Milady! P-please calm down! It’s just me, Frue! Your maid!” she exclaimed, though that failed to stop Katie’s trembling. She simply screamed as she saw the giant face getting closer. “Mistress Primavella, please calm down! I would never do anything to harm you!”

Katie froze up when she heard that name again.

She looked around once more, slowly this time. They seemed to be in the courtyard of a castle. Katie was wearing a dress made of black silk. And she could see it in her shadow. A pair of butterfly wings on her back.

“I’m…Primavella?” she asked aloud in disbelief.

What the hell was happening? She…was in Primavella’s body? Which means…this is the world of Fairy’s Heart? Is this…because of the screen said before?

Her head was pounding painfully, as her heart felt like it would rip itself out of her chest. Katie collapsed down, her eyes closing as her mind faded to black once again.

“M-milady! Please, hang in there milady! I’ll bring you to the doctor right away!” Frue shouted. Katie could feel herself being carried away in the soft hands of the maid as she drifted away…

End Notes:

There you have it!

Think Katie will survive this strange new world? Will she be able to save the kingdom and herself? Or maybe she'll run away with someone to escape her fate! Only time will tell~

Chapter 2: Prima's Home by YuriGoodness
Author's Notes:

Here we go, chapter two! Katie wakes up in the body of Primavella, in their home.

In an location not covered in the game, surrounded by people that weren't characters, can she pull off living as Prima? Or will her cold family break the little one's spirit?

Katie groaned as she stirred from her slumber. She slowly opened her eyes, staring up at an unfamiliar ceiling. It was formed of gray stone with wooden supports across it. It definitely wasn’t her dorm’s ceiling.

She slowly sat up and looked about the room.

This seemed to be some kind of medieval medical bay. Locked cabinets with medicines behind them, curtains that could block out view of others, and a shoot marked “Morgue.” Though as she stared at it longer, Katie realized she read it despite it being written in a foreign language.

She looked down at herself to check her well being. Katie was laying on an enormous pillow on an absolutely massive bed. The silk dress was still on her, and she felt some cloth wrapped around her head. Likely bandages.

Katie stood up shakily, feeling a bit light headed. But she stayed up, and tried taking a few steps. Her body felt incredibly weak, as if she was anemic. Whatever happened to her, she would need some time to recover.

She walked down to the edge of the bed, staring down at the floor. She felt a pit in her stomach as she stared at the drop. It was like standing on the edge of a building…

Katie backed away and sat down on the mattress.

“I really…got reincarnated into Primavella?” she asked aloud, staring down into her dainty hands. There’s no way this is still just a dream. How on earth did something like this happen? That weird message when she completely cleared the game…was that not just a program? Maybe there was a god at work or something.

She sighed and clutched her head lightly. There was still a dull pain in her skull…something must have happened. Perhaps she hit her head before? That could have served as a catalyst for her to take over Primavella’s body…

“Fuck…I wish I had an aspirin or something…” she grumbled, annoyed from the pain. In the game, Prima never worried about injuries. As a Sacred One, she was strong enough to cast powerful healing magic. She could regrow a severed arm in an instant.

Wait…if Katie was Primavella…then…

“H-heal” she said aloud, placing a hand on top of her head. Though, nothing happened. It seemed just saying the name of the magic doesn’t work. Especially since Prima never made any sort of chant or announcement when she cast her spells.

Remembering the lore of the world, the Sacred One could commune directly with the spirits in the world. All she needed to do was express her will and the effects would occur. It’s all based on willpower…so Katie should be able to do it.

She closed her eyes and thought about wanting the pain to end. Trying her best to express her will to the world without saying it, she felt something foreign. Like…a tension to the air. A wind that rubbed against her, but also wasn’t really there.

It was hard to put into words…but she tried to focus on that.

Heal me.

She tried to convey her command to that mysterious force…and felt her head begin to warm up. Opening her eyes, her head was covered in a green light shining out of her hand. Katie yelped and recoiled, the light instantly snuffing out.

The sensation faded…but there was no more pain.

Katie tapped her head a few times, feeling completely healthy now.

“I…I just used magic! Oh my god I’m magic!” she screamed happily. She laughed aloud and jumped up and down, ecstatic at casting her first spell!

Nothing could ruin this moment!

Creeeeeeeeeak

The door made a loud groan as it opened across the room. Katie froze up as she looked over, forgetting that she was still in an unfamiliar environment.

A giantess the size of a mountain walked through the door, looking over to the bed right away. As Katie was spotted, she felt her blood run cold.

“Oh good! You’re awake, milady!” she called out happily. The woman walked over, pulling up a stool to sit next to the bed.

She seemed to be an older woman, possibly around her mother’s age. It was hard to say for sure from her long, snow white hair. Whether it was from age or natural, she couldn’t tell. The woman continued to smile, looking affectionately down at her with light pink eyes.

“U-u-um…” Katie stammered, trying to speak up. “Wh-who may you be, ma’am?” she asked, trying to sound polite. Though as soon as the question left her lips, the woman’s smile vanished.
“WHAT?!” she shouted, slamming her hands down on the bed on either side of Katie. She squealed and curled up into a ball instinctively. “Milady…you…lost your memory!?”

Katie peeked up at her once more. Thankfully, she wasn’t furious. Instead, there was a deeply rooted look of concern.

“I…believe so…” she responded feebly. While she still had all her memories…she didn’t think it was a good idea to reveal her soul was from another dimension.

“Oh milady…how could this happen?” she asked, wiping her eyes. She sucked in a deep breath and made a resolved expression. “Ok! This is fine! Everyone here will support you until your memory returns!” she announced firmly. Her large hands slowly moved downwards, scooping Katie off the mattress.

It was an odd sensation as the warm skin surrounded her. It was smooth and soft, and smelled faintly of mint. Perhaps from hand soap?

“Milady, you are Primavella Jansgard. The youngest child of Duke Jansgard, and the only Sacred One in the world. A precious existence that guarantees the survival of our country. You won’t find a single person in the nation of Norn that would ever wish you harm” she explained as she began to carefully carry her out of the room.

“I am Dr. Yonda Valen, your family’s personal physician. I handle all illnesses or injuries any member of the Jansgard family suffers. Yesterday, you were injured out in the courtyard. A maid was careless and dropped a basket of bread on the balcony. You were below there and one of the rolls struck your head” she explained.

“W-wait…I was injured…by bread?” she asked, dumbfounded. Primavella Jansgard, the Sacred One, capable of leveling cities with her magic…was nearly killed by a roll?

“I’m afraid so, Milady. You must have noticed, but your body is special. The spirits blessed you before you were born, thus making you half spirit. A fairy. Your stature is drastically smaller than humans, but in return your magic is much more powerful” she answered.

Katie groaned slightly in her head. She knew all the basics of the world already. Magic worked by inputting requests to the spirits across the world to change the world around them. She had even just cast magic for the first time a moment ago.

Not only that, Katie memorized all the magical spells in Fairy’s Heart. Even the magic formulae, spell circles that appeared when casting magic. There were unique markings to each spell, making it recognizable from a distance. Knowing these made combat extremely easy, since you knew what your opponent would cast next.

Hell, Katie had even experimented with her own magic formulae in the dorm room. If there was a way to test them, she made pages upon pages of new spells to improve the world!

“D-doctor!” Katie exclaimed loudly.
“Yes, milady? Do you have a question?” the older woman responded.

“Is there a place to test out my magic? And…possibly, someone to help me test it?” she asked, feeling herself buzzing with excitement. That’s right! She’s magical! She could put her theories to the test!

“Of course, milady. Your personal study has a separate room for magic practice. You enchanted it yourself when you were younger to ensure it would break the castle walls. As for a practice partner, you have a few options. Your eldest sister, Janice, graduated from the academy a few years ago. Or the magic knight, Jasper, has recently returned from duty. Of course, several of your personal maids also-”
“Any of them are fine, please take me to my study right away! There’s something I need to try out!”

“I apologize, milady. But I cannot comply with that order. The Duke and Duchess requested you be brought before them as soon as you awoke. They have been worried sick about your wellbeing when they heard you were injured” Yonda explained, bowing her head.

“O-oh…right…of course they would be. Parents…would be concerned for their child’s safety…” she murmured. The game had no details around Prima’s family, besides a few references. Katie had no idea what they looked like, or even what their personalities were. The same went to all the servants in this castle.

At least she could pretend to have lost all her memories. That would surely clear her of any suspicions they may have of her. But still…she wasn’t sure how she should act around Primavella’s parents.

After all, as Katie, she hasn’t had any good experiences with family…

Yonda stopped in front of a large wooden door with the symbol of Jansgard above it, the head of a dragon. She knocked twice before opening the door.

“Your Grace, Lady Primavella has awoken” she announced as she walked inside.

The room appeared to be a personal office. Bookshelves lined the walls, with a few couches around a meeting table in the middle. At the end near the window was a large desk, with a large man seated there with a woman standing beside him.

The man had gray hair and brown eyes, a firm expression on his face. Judging from the air of authority around him, this was likely the Duke. She knew that he gained wealth and power from his many exploits on the battlefield…but wasn’t the true power behind the house of Jansgard.

After all, in this world women are the heads of the household.

Standing behind him was a tall woman with sleek black hair and piercing red eyes. She wore a shimmering red gown with a plunging neckline that revealed a large amount of cleavage. Her red painted fingers clutched a fan in one hand, the other resting on her husband’s shoulder.

“Thank you, doctor,” she said, her voice smooth and sultry. “You may take your leave. Primavella, come here” she ordered, tapping the desk before her.

Katie stiffened at the firmness in her voice. Was this a cold family, where she was used as a tool? It would make sense that Primavella wasn’t raised kindly, given how much value she placed on responsibility and duty.

But even if that wasn’t enough to make her nervous…she had no idea how to move over to the desk on her own. She was still held in the kind doctor’s hands, and had no idea how to make her wings move!

“What’s wrong, daughter? I said to come here” the duchess repeated, pointing at the desk.
“Y-your grace, if I may?” Yonda interjected. The duchess glared, but didn’t scold her. “The young Lady…seems to have lost her memories after injuring her head. She has no recollection of the people in this manner, and may be nervous if you speak to her in such a commanding tone” she offered. She looked down at Katie affectionately for a moment before looking back to her parents. “She may also…not remember how to fly. I advise having someone carry her for the time being” she concluded.

The duke and duchess looked at each other for a moment, exchanging a look.
“Bring her here, and take your leave. We will confirm things ourselves” the duke said in a firm tone.

“By your command” Yonda said, walking forward. Katie looked up to her with a pleading expression, but the giantess wasn’t looking at her. There’s no way she could have disobeyed an order from the heads of the household…

With a clearly practiced motion, Katie was gently placed onto the surface of the desk. Back on solid ground, she stood up and watched as the doctor left the office. Alone with Prima’s parents, she clenched her fists to try and keep herself from trembling.

“Primavella” the duke said. Katie turned around, looking up at his bearded face nervously.
“Y-yes?” she responded.

“Have you truly lost your memory? Do you know who I am?” he asked.

“I…I have…” Katie responded. “Th-the doctor said you are my parents…but I have no recollection of either of you. I-I apologize…”

The duke and duchess looked to each other once more, holding their gaze for several seconds. Looking back down at her, he reached a gloved hand towards her. Katie flinched and held her eyes shut as she saw the large appendage approaching.

She prepared mentally for a strike…but instead felt something else. A gentle stroking from the top of her head down her back. Opening her eyes, the duke was gently petting her with one of his fingers, looking down at her sadly.

“Oh Prima…I’m so sorry this happened to you” the duchess said, sniffling slightly. “I should have had someone there to protect you. You’ve always been so strong and independent, I know you don’t like being monitored. But I should have insisted…”

“You may not remember us right now, but we are your parents. Until you remember everything, just know that we love you dearly. You can talk to us about anything” he said sweetly, giving a sad smile.

Katie stood there, unsure of how to act. These…were Prima’s parents? The hero of war and the most powerful noblewoman in the kingdom? But…they weren’t cold hearted. They didn’t call her here to scold her, or check on the condition of their tool.

They were loving parents that were scared something happened to their daughter.

It was a sensation that Katie had never known.

Before she even realized it, tears were streaming down her eyes. She lunged forward and hugged the duke’s finger as she began to openly cry. He relaxed his hand to let her safely hold on as the duchess stepped forward to stroke her head.

Even as she bawled, Katie didn’t feel sad at all. The feeling of genuine, unconditional love was simply too much for her to take out of nowhere. It was meant for the owner of this body instead of her…but she couldn’t help but accept it. When the time came, she’d gladly give this body back and return to being Katie. But for now, she’d relish this time as a beloved child…

“I-I apologize for my outburst from earlier…” Katie mumbled out, hanging her head in embarrassment. She was sitting on the edge of a platter, holding a crumb of a cookie the size of her head.

“My darling, you have nothing to apologize for” the duchess replied, a satisfied smile on her face. She took a sip from her tea cup, looking oddly refreshed.

“Indeed, there’s nothing to be ashamed of. Losing your memories must be terrifying. I’m happy to comfort you anytime you need” the duke chimed in.

“Honestly, you’re normally so stern. I haven’t seen you cry since you were a little girl” the duchess said, placing a hand against her cheek. “You were so cute back then, always calling me mommy~”

Katie was blushing a bit as she took a bite of the cookie. This was starting to get embarrassing. Even though it wasn’t her that did these things, hearing that kind of stuff was…

“Y-your grace, I-”
“No.” The duchess leaned in close, her eyes practically glowing with intensity as she looked at Katie. “It’s not ‘your grace.’ It’s ‘mommy.’ Ok?”
“Your grace, there’s-!”
“Mommy.”
“Your-”
“Mommy.”
“...Mother.”
“Mommy.”
“...m…mo…mommy…” Katie forced out, her face beet red at this point. The duchess leaned back and gave an innocent smile.
“Yes, my darling daughter? What can your mommy do for you?” she asked in a chipper voice. Katie noticed the duke simply smiling blissfully as he observed the scene.

“I’d like to experiment with my magical power. Is there anyone that can carry me there and help me? I think I know how to cast magic, but I’d like to test it somewhere safe first. So I don’t think I need a mage specifically” she requested.

“Oh, is that all? I suppose your father and I should resume our work. If you don’t need a tutor to start you off again, then a maid should suffice” she stated, reaching down and ringing a bell four times. “If you need anything else, you are more than welcome to come to either of our offices. Even if you don’t need anything, come by and visit sometimes. No, come by my office at least twice a day!” she insisted, seeming to get greedier as she spoke.

“Your gr-” Katie started before the duchess shot a sharp glare her way. “...mommy, you have your own office?” she asked.

“Of course I do! It’s the main office in the east wing, it’s much larger than your father’s. I simply waited here because it’s closer to the infirmary” she explained.

Soon after, there were two knocks at the door before a maid stepped inside.
“Your Grace, I have arrived” she stated politely, giving a short curtsy. Katie quickly recognized her as the maid that carried her to the infirmary earlier.

She didn’t get a good look at her before due to the pain, but now she saw her clearly. A slightly chubby girl in her early twenties with short dirty blonde hair. The maid uniform hid most of her body, but she got the feeling that she was rather curvy.

“Frue, Prima has lost her memories, including how to fly. She wishes to practice her magic, so take her to the study. Stay close by her side in case she needs anything. Report back right away if she loses consciousness again” she ordered.

“By your command” she responded, the same way Yonda did earlier. Perhaps that was the standard for servants around here?

Frue stepped closer, lowering her hand and setting it next to Katie. After several seconds, she realized that she was waiting for her to climb on instead of just scooping her.

Katie hopped onto the soft surface of the hand, sitting down directly in the center of her palm. Frue gently cupped her with her other hand before lifting her back up.

“Your Grace” she said before leaving the room. This maid may be young, but her manners seem impeccable.

Frue carried her down a series of long hallways and up several flights of stairs. The large corridors all looked the same, and Katie likely would be lost if she tried to move about by herself.

Eventually, they reached a door made of blue wood. Frue stopped directly in front of it and held her hands close to it.

“Milady, the door is sealed with your magic. Only you can open it” she explained.
“Oh…um…” she stammered, standing up in the hand. She had cast magic earlier…hopefully this would be similar. Stepping forward, she placed a hand on the strange wood.

Instantly she could feel that strange sensation from earlier buzzing on the other side of the door. She remembered a common spell from the game, and focused on expressing her will in that formation.

Open.

A click sounded from the other side of the door and it swung open on its own.

It was a common spell in the game, used to enter restricted areas or unlock chests. It was the first one Katie ever memorized.

“Excellent work, milady. I’m pleased your skills with magic are still intact” Frue said with a smile as she stepped inside the room.

It was a rather simple room, with no decorations and the bare minimum of furniture. No…upon closer inspection, there were many things here. But they were all in one corner of the room, looking like a child’s play area.

All Prima’s furniture and belongings were doll sized to fit her better. Her bed, her wardrobe, her desk, everything. It looked well made, and likely came from a specialist carver. As a Sacred One, it makes sense that there would be people dedicated to solving her needs.

She didn’t have time to investigate as the maid carried her to a second door inside the room. Frue pushed open the red door and stepped through. The instant they crossed the threshold, the view of the castle vanished.

They were suddenly standing in space, somehow walking on an invisible floor. As the door closed behind them, it vanished.

“The Small World spell?” Katie thought aloud. It was a spell in the game that was only talked about in lore books. A spell that could be used to create a portal to a pocket dimension linked to the owner’s personal mana. Very few were strong enough to use it, Felicia herself couldn’t use it at all in the game.

The kingdom’s archmage could use it, but just as a small storage area the size of a backpack. But this space looked infinite! Primavella’s true strength must truly be monstrous to form a space this large from her mana!

Frue slowly lowered her to the ground, setting her down gently. As soon as she was standing on her own, the maid scooted back a couple steps and pressed her forehead to the floor.

“I AM TERRIBLY SORRY, MILADY!” she shouted, desperation straining her voice. Katie yelped and jumped back a little at the sudden outburst. She was so calm a second ago! “IT’S ALL MY FAULT MY LADY WAS INJURED! I SHOULD HAVE PROTECTED YOU INSTEAD OF HELPING THE OTHERS! IT’S ALL MY FAULT YOU’VE LOST YOUR PRECIOUS MEMORIES AND SPILLED YOUR BLOOD!” she confessed.

Katie covered her ears, but still listened to what she was saying. So…Frue was blaming herself for Primavella’s injuries? Looking closer, she was even trembling. She might be the size of a bug, but she was a Sacred One and the daughter of a duchess. If she was blamed for that incident, it wouldn’t be odd for her head to be rolling.

“Um…Frue?” Katie spoke up. The maid lifted her head, tears streaming down the sides of her face. “I…I’m not upset about what happened, you know? The doctor said I got hurt when another maid dropped bread from the balcony. It’s my fault for not noticing and defending myself. Besides…I hear…that I didn’t like people being by my side before. But…you were the one to help me when I was hurt. I remember you holding me gently in your hands. You carried me to the doctor quickly before things got worse. Rather than mad, I want to thank you” Katie said, stepping forward and placing a hand against Frue’s cheek.

The surface was so soft that her hand sank in a bit. Her hand may be small, but the gesture alone seemed to comfort the maid.

“T-truly? Th-thank you, my lady. I don’t deserve your thanks” she said, sitting up straight. “But, if you’ll allow me, I’ll serve you for all my life!”

“You don’t need to serve me your entire life. If you ever want to leave, I’ll support your decision. But if you want to stay, I’m happy to have you with me” she replied. The maid smiled brightly as she tried to wipe away her tears.

“Thank you, milady! I’ll continue to serve you faithfully!”

Once Frue had calmed down, Katie finally began her practice. She had Frue stand a safe distance back before she began to go through her mental spellbook.

She started with lower level spells, like creating a ball of light or small flares. The formulae are basic and easy to use in her head. So far the hardest part is expressing her will into the spirits.

But as she practiced, the easier it became. Moving up the list, she could cast the intermediate spells easily after a couple hours of practice.

She could cast levitate on herself, though struggled to control her flight path exactly. Many quick, jerking motions. Katie tried to get some practice flying without magic, but her wings refused to budge. The fact she was casting magic meant that the wings were undamaged, she just needed to learn how to move them first.

But that’s a lesson for later. She quickly moved on to attack magic.

Blasting fireballs, calling lightning, summoning storms. By the time she reached the advanced spells, casting magic was becoming second nature. Her wants and desires could be let out openly into the universe and the universe responded promptly.

She chose not to practice anything too powerful while Frue was here. Even if the space seemed infinite, she wouldn’t want to cause an explosion that could hurt her. But once she had finished the confirmed spells…came her experimental ones.

Spells that didn’t exist in the game, including the lore books. Something she had imagined from a mix of inspiration and knowledge from her college courses.

Summoning stone was a basic spell that converted mana into physical matter. The same happened when summoning water. In her mind, she remembered the process of molecules bonding together to create substances. When she thought about hydrogen bonding with oxygen, the water formed easier.

Now…she imagined a different chemical formula being formed. Translating it into magical formulae took a deep understanding of the fairy language, but Katie had pulled it off thanks to the internet.

Focusing on the properties…she formed gold in front of her.

It took more magical power than any of the other elements, but gold dust began to pile up in front of her. Frue gasped as she witnessed the birth of a new spell.

Katie was smiling from ear to ear as she ended the spell, touching the gold dust in front of her. It stayed in its form, meaning that it was stable. Her spellcraft worked! Her experiment was a success!

There were many different spells she wanted to try, but it had been hours since she came in here. The space was seeming to shrink a bit due to all the mana she’s used so far. It was still massive, but she could sense the walls were present now instead of being in infinite space.

She needed to test one more spell to consider today a success. Honestly this was the spell she had thought about the most since she cleared the game.

The enchantment school of magic could bestow effects to items. It could make weapons stronger, or armor tougher. A pair of clothes could be harder to pierce than a steel plate without feeling any different than before.

Even bikini armor existed in this world, enchanted by masters that created force fields around the wearer to make them impervious to harm. Though, even then very few people wore them. Going into battle half naked was ridiculous in any world.

But Katie had a thought before. What about using enchantment magic on a living being? There were buffing spells, but those mostly granted effects to a person’s mana. Then using that mana lets their body feel the effect of the buff. But that effect would fade rather quickly.

Enchantment magic was permanent as long as mana was supplied to it regularly. Since people could cast buffs, no one has tried to enchant their own bodies. But Katie came up with a theory. Overlaying enchantment magic with healing magic should allow her to cast it onto her body directly.

By overlaying the formulae together, with a few alterations, Katie focused it on herself. The green light of healing mixed with the white light of enchantment. Her skin burned as Katie cast the spells on herself, clearly rejecting the changes being made.

Katie bit her lip and tried to power through the pain as she continued on her experiment. It hurt…but not nearly as bad as a tattoo. It was bearable, but she wished it would end quickly. After a few minutes, the magic began to fade away.

She looked over her body, but didn’t feel any different. Did it work? According to her calculations, her body should now be impervious to physical damage. But there was only one way of knowing for sure if it worked…

“Hey…Frue?” she called out. The maid quickly walked over and kneeled in front of her.

“Yes, Milady? Are you tired? Hungry? Ready to end the day?” she asked, trying to guess her needs. Honestly, all of them were true. But dinner and bed could wait.

“I actually need your help to test something. I cast a defensive buffing spell on myself, and I want to see how effective it is. Can you try to hurt me?”

Frue gasped in horror at the request.

“M-milady, I could never harm you! You were just harmed! There’s no way I could ever do such a thing!”
“A-ah, I know, I know. I don’t mean seriously! Just…something small. Like…poking or pinning me or something. The buff should be strong enough that it won’t even hurt. I just want to make sure it’s working” she corrected.

“Even so, Milady! I am your servant! Raising a hand against you is treasonous! If you wish to test your spells, please cast it on one of us instead. I’ll gladly receive a hit if it saves my lady from another incident!” she pleaded.

Katie sighed mentally for not thinking about this. Of course Frue wouldn’t want to hurt her…even if she ordered it she might adamantly refuse. She’d need someone else to experiment this spell with.

“I understand…then, can we get something to eat? I haven’t eaten anything since I met my parents” she said, slightly defeated.

“Of course, milady. Dinner should be served soon, I’ll bring you to the dining hall.”

Frue smiled and placed her hand on the ground next to her. Katie climbed up on it, fully laying down against her smooth skin. Honestly, this was a rather comfortable way to travel. She might not mind it if she didn’t learn to fly anytime soon.

Katie nearly dozed off as the maid carried her through the long corridors once more. She was mentally tired after firing off so much magic. While she still possessed more mana than the average mage, she felt like she could sleep for days.

Honestly, the hardest thing so far was using her own magic. She likely used more magic in that last spell than all the others combined. Perhaps that was the payoff for layering multiple schools of magic on top of each other?

Come to think of it…she remembered another piece of lore. It was impossible to cast two spells at once, even for the Sacred Ones. The formulae require complete concentration, so attempting to dual cast will simply result in both spells failing to manifest.

Does that mean…she just pulled off a milestone achievement?

No way…after all, it was technically one spell using two schools. That wasn’t the same, right? Katie looked down into her hands…and tried one last test.

A small flame appeared in her left hand and a block of ice formed in her right.

She instantly closed her fists, dispelling both before Frue could notice. She did it! That's easy! Dual casting wasn’t impossible! As long as you maintain the focus on both spells at once, it could work!

Was this because of how much Katie studied the spellcraft of this world? Or perhaps Primavella’s affinity for magic was this great all along? That means she may have been capable of this much during the story, and simply hid this talent.

But why…?

“Yo, Frue!” a friendly voice called out from behind. Katie snapped out of her thoughts as Frue turned around to face the newcomer. As she looked up, the last thing she saw was black cloth racing towards her.

A shocked yelp escaped her lips as Katie found herself crushed under an unbearable weight. The surface pressing onto her was soft and seemed to completely envelop her body. She instantly tried to push it off of her, but it was no use.

It might be soft, but it was dozens of times heavier than her feeble body. Honestly, getting crushed like this could be fatal. It was comparable to a being buried under a mountain of falling pillows.

But there was no pain.

It was certainly uncomfortable…but it didn’t hurt. No broken bones, no cuts or scrapes. Her wings didn’t even feel bent. Looks like the experimental spell was a success!

“Kyaaaa~ Where are you touching, Frue~” the voice from earlier chirped, though muffled to Katie.

“G-get off of me, Kaya! I’m in the middle of carrying milady!” Frue shouted. The pressure vanished from behind Katie rather suddenly. The small girl instantly began plummeting to the floor.

“The lady? What do you mean?”

Katie screamed instinctively as she felt herself falling. Seeing the floor rug fast approaching, she tried once more to fly. Her wings twitched awkwardly, but couldn’t make a complete flap. She closed her eyes and braced herself for impact as she mentally prepared for the pain.

Wham!

Katie felt her body hit the ground with the full force of gravity. It was enough to knock the breath out of her…but it still didn’t hurt. She gasped for a few seconds, trying to calm her heartbeat back down. It might not have hurt…but she was still fearful of her life in moments like that. It was basic survival instincts to not want to die.

Looking up, she saw another maid talking with Frue. Though…she couldn’t see her face from this angle. Her chest was large enough that it blocked her view.

“Why are you bringing up the lady? She can just fly around, can’t she?” the maid pointed out.

“Have you not been informed? Milady suffered an injury today because of your carelessness! The bread you dropped struck her head. She has lost her memories, including how to fly!” Frue shouted.

This was the maid that caused Primavella to get injured? Why was she here? Injuring a noble should be a punishable offense…

“Oh, is that so? I was too busy baking more bread for Lady Priscilla to do anything else today. She’s already forgiven me for spilling the bread too, so I’m in the clear!” she said with a triumphant giggle. Priscilla…Primavella’s aunt? She was staying in this castle too? “Besides…that little monster could use a smack or two sometimes, right? Looking down on all us servants despite not even being human…”

Frue gasped in shock while Katie felt her blood chill. A human supremacist? People like this existed in this world, mostly discriminating against the demi human population. But to openly talk bad about a Sacred One? Just speaking of it could be considered a crime!

“How dare you! Kaya, apologize to the lady this instant!” Frue shouted, holding up her cupped hands. The two maids stood in silence for a few seconds. Kaya and Frue were both staring into Frue’s empty hands.

“M-MY LADY?!” Frue screamed in a panic. She looked down towards the floor, instantly spotting Katie against the floor. A shockwave shook her small body as Frue hit the floor, bowing her head against the carpet.

“MY HUMBLEST APOLOGIES, MY LADY! I FAILED TO PROTECT YOU ONCE AGAIN!” she shouted, visibly trembling.

“F-frue, it’s ok. It’s not like I’m hurt…” she started saying.

“Wow…she looks kinda nice like this. So small and pathetic on the floor…” Kaya spoke from above.

Katie turned upwards and shivered. The maid had short pink hair and golden eyes. Her expression wasn’t that of a servant that injured her master. It was that of a cat that spotted her prey.

“Kaya!” Frue shouted, looking up at her as well. “Apologize this instant! You might be Lady Priscilla’s personal maid, but your rudeness has gone too far!”

“Right, right…” Kaya said, crouching lower. “My bad, ladybug. Sorry” she said without an ounce of sincerity. There was a clear smile of superiority on her face as she stood up and began walking away.

“Kaya!” Frue shouted after her. When it was clear she had no intention of turning back, she looked back to Katie. “Lady Primavella, I apologize for my negligence as well as my colleague’s actions. Are you harmed, my lady? Shall I take you back to the infirmary?”

Katie stood up and brushed off her dress.

“It…it’s fine, Frue. I am completely unharmed. And despite her rudeness, I’m willing to forgive Kaya. Through her actions, I got to test the effectiveness of my buffing spell from earlier. Therefore, I’ll consider this matter settled” she said, walking closer to the enormous maid. “Now, please continue escorting me to the dining hall.”

Frue looked at the small lady in front of her, eyes wide and sparkling. Such a benevolent person…her lady was truly a kind master.

“At your command, my lady,” she said, gently cupping her hands around Katie and lifting her up. Slowly rising back to her feet, Frue carried Katie down the hall with a brilliant smile plastered on her face.

“Fuuuuuuuuuuck me~ I never thought she’d be that cute~” Kaya moaned to herself as she entered an empty room. Seeing that little lady on the floor…it was simply exquisite~ Fantasies flooded her mind of crushing that little bug under her feet played over and over.

Watching her beautiful face twist and contort in pain sent shivers down her spine. Hearing that arrogant insect begging her, a mere servant, for mercy. Drool escaped her lips as she thought about all the other ways she can torment that little lady.

Maybe if she was good to Lady Priscilla, she’d give her that bug? They were already planning to rip her wings off and make her powerless…it wouldn’t hurt to let Kaya have her fun as well, right?

End Notes:

There it is!

Sorry for so much lore dumping and magical info. I promise to include more genuine interactions after this chapter! Thanks to her spells, she won't get injured very easily.

But that doesn't mean she's out of danger...

Chapter 3: First Impressions by YuriGoodness
Author's Notes:

New chapter time!

Katie meets more people and tries to find out the truth. It seems that everything isn't what she expected, and forces are moving in the shadows. How will she handle it?

The Jansgard dining hall was a large room near the center of the main building. It was designed to be welcoming to entire families coming to visit, with the table alone capable of seating 40. A large fireplace roared in the back, a mounted head of a Hydra above it. Many other monster heads and ornamental weapons surrounded the room, a few paintings hung here and there.

The duke and duchess sat side by side at the head of the large table, sipping from the wine glasses. Sitting on either side of the table were their children. The eldest sat on the right side of the table near her mother, Janice. She was the spitting image of her mother, with her long black hair and red eyes. Or a slightly older, human Primavella.

Next to her was the 3rd oldest child, Quarz. She had inherited her father’s ash gray hair and brown eyes. It surprised people at first to learn that it was naturally like that. Most assumed it was due to age.

On the other side of the table was Cayna Jansgard, the only adopted child of the family. Her parents were a distant cousin of the Duke that unfortunately perished in an accident when she was an infant. The duke and duchess agreed to take her in and raise her as their own daughter.

She was rather meek in nature, and always spoke in an overly polite tone to her adoptive family. No one ever said it…but there’s no way she was actually accepted as a true daughter of this family.

After all, there was only one person in this entire family that spends any time with her.

The door to the dining hall swung open as Frue walked in with her hands cupped in front of her.

“My lords and ladies” she greeted, bowing politely as she got closer to the table. She walked to the seat next to Cayna and placed Primavella down.

Cayna gave a soft smile down to her little sibling, feeling a sense of comfort from her presence. The only one that would come and visit her willingly was Prima. She was slightly cold like all the other members of the ducal household…but her actions showed that she genuinely cared.

Though…something seemed different about her today. Normally, she had the same cold eyes and stern expression as the others. But she seemed…nervous? Her eyes were darting around at everyone’s faces like she couldn’t recognize them. Or…maybe she was looking for someone that wasn’t here?

“Pri-” Cayna started.

“Family” the duchess said, cutting her off. “I have an important announcement to make. Earlier today, Primavella was injured due to the carelessness of my sister’s maid. Thus, Priscilla is confined to her quarters for the time being. Mostly due to the accident resulting in Primavella to lose most of her memories” she explained.

The eyes of her three siblings all shot down towards Primavella, who made a high pitched squeak at the sudden attention. She squirmed awkwardly under their gaze.

“I-it is as she says. I…do not remember you all. I-I apologize for such a discourtesy…” she said, bowing her head politely.

“I am your mother, Calliope, and this is your father, Hugh. These are your older sisters, Janice, Cayna, and Quarz” she said, motioning to everyone as she introduced them.

“N-nice to…well, not quite meet…but um…see you?” she said awkwardly to everyone at the table. Janice and Quarz remained silent, simply observing Primavella.

“C-cute…” Cayna mumbled quietly.

What is this? Primavella Jansgard was the Sacred One of the Nation of Norn. A mythical being with powers that could wipe countries off the map. A daughter of the stoic Jansgards, whose cold stare could stop a charging elephant.

But what on earth is this adorable creature?!

For the first time, rather than respect and admiration, Cayna viewed Primavella as a cute little creature. So small and dainty and meek. It was hard to suppress the urge to scoop her up and cuddle her!!!

Katie looked down as she tried to ignore the predatory gazes all around her. A cold sweat was washing over her as she tried not to run away from this entire situation. Honestly, this family was way too scary!

She had already met the duke and duchess earlier today, so they weren’t scary anymore. She recognized Cayna from the game, and wasn’t too worried about her. After all, her character started off loving her sister very dearly.

But the two people across from her were scary!

The person sitting across from Cayna was clearly Janice, the eldest daughter. She looked exactly like the duchess, if a bit younger. But the person sitting next to her was a bit of a mystery. She had grey hair, so she thought that person might be her aunt Priscilla at first. But she looked way too young for that to be the case.

When the duchess confirmed that Priscilla wasn’t here, it was confirmed. This person…might be the 3rd sibling, Quarz. She wasn’t a character in the game, despite being a student in the academy.

But she looked so different…maybe a cousin?

“Dinner is served” a servant announced at the door. Katie was pulled away from her thoughts as she watched half a dozen servants carrying platters into the room. She couldn’t help but stare in wonder as mountains of food was placed on the table in front of her.

A roasted pig with an apple in its mouth, roasted vegetables, roasted chicken…

It looked amazing, but aren’t there a few too many roasted dishes here? Maybe it was someone’s preference. Then again, there might not be many cooking techniques in this country.

As the plates were set in front of everyone, a maid brought over a separate set up for Katie. A miniature dining table, complete was mini plates and silverware. Even as she sat in the chair, it was a little surprising how comfortable it was. She half expected doll type furniture to be rough, but the cushion on this was excellent.

Once everything was set, servants cut off pieces of the meal for everyone and had them plated. They used an expert hand at carefully making a neat plate for Katie, though it felt a little too big for her to eat alone.

The food was excellent, if a little salty. As expected of a high ranking noble family! Maybe she could pretend to have an interest in cooking and slip the chef a few recipes…

“Prima” the duchess suddenly called out. “Tomorrow is an important day, so remember to rest well” she warned.

“T-tomorrow?” she asked, tilting her head. “Your Grace, what is happening tomorrow?”

The duchess ignored her question, continuing to eat.

“Y-your grace?”
“...”
“M…mom?”
“...”
“M…m…m-mommy?” Katie forced out, her face becoming beet red.
“Yes, my sweet daughter?” the duchess replied with a happy grin. Katie tried her best not to notice the siblings all staring at her…

“What is happening tomorrow?” she asked once more.
“Oh, your fiance is coming to visit. The crown princess of this nation, Gremoria Norn. She’s quite beautiful, so don’t be too surprised when you see her, ok?” she said cheerfully.

Katie froze up when she heard that statement. Gremoria…is coming to the castle to see her? The person that kills Primavella in each and every playthrough? No…that can’t be right!

She forced herself to remain calm and analyze the situation.

Gremoria kills Primavella after being deceived by Felicia. They haven’t even entered the academy yet, so there’s no chance that they’d be hostile to each other. At the start of the game, they established that Primavella and Gremoria were madly in love with each other.

So it’s not like she was coming here to kill her. They aren’t enemies yet. And as much as Katie personally hates that scumbag of a princess…she hasn’t done anything wrong yet.

It was only fair to give her a chance before making her own judgements. This is reality, not just a game. But…maybe she should test the waters a little bit.

“A…fiance? As in, someone I’m supposed to marry?” she asked in an innocent voice.

“That’s right, dear. Your lovely blushing bride for the future” the duchess responded with a playful smile.

“How did we become engaged?” she asked.

“How? Well, when I gave birth to you we received a request from the royal family for marriage. They always want Sacred Ones to be welcomed into their bloodline” she explained. Katie tightened a fist under her table. So it was a political marriage after all…

“Well, we held off on answering for a while. After you met Gremoria for the first time, you told me you wanted to marry her. So, we agreed to it.”

What?! It wasn’t strictly political?! Then…

“Um…do I…have to get married?” she asked nervously.

Everyone at the table stopped eating and looked to Katie.
“Wh-what are you saying?!” Janice yelled.

“Prima, do you mean…?!” Cayna exclaimed.

“Are you serious, Primavella!?” Quarz shouted.

“Silence!” the duke shouted to his children. They quickly became quiet as the duchess looked down at Katie.

“Do you not wish to get married to the princess, Primavella? You were the one to ask for this marriage, you know? I understand you’ve lost your memories, but once you regain them I’m sure your feelings towards her will return as well” she asked with a concerned tone.

“I-I mean…” Katie stammered, nervously wringing her hands together. “If I get married…I won’t be able to live with everyone anymore, right? I’d have to leave her for the royal palace…”

A heavy silence filled the air. Janice’s jaw outright hung open as she heard her sister’s response. Katie mentally scolded herself, thinking that might not have been the right move.

“I…I can’t take it anymore!” Cayna suddenly shouted. Katie looked over in time to see a large hand hurtling towards her. She squealed as she found herself held firmly in her sister’s fist.

“L-let go!” Katie cried out, squirming futily. She tried to gather some magic power to teleport away or something, but there was no response. Primavella can’t use magic if her wings are bound! The pressure from being in her grip counted!

She was helpless to stop Cayna as she pulled her close and…pressed her against her chest. Katie’s face lit up as she found herself pressed up against a vaguely familiar softness.

“Prima! You’re so cute!” she explained, hugging her tightly against her chest. She spun around in her seat slightly, giggling heavily. “You should hurry up and call off that proposal and marry me instead!”

The air was forced from her lungs as Katie was squeezed between two large, soft orbs. Her only slightly saving grace was that there was a layer of cloth between her and the breasts from Cayna’s purple dress. Otherwise she’d quickly be encased in her cleavage.

“Let…go…” Katie forced out. This hug didn’t hurt her thanks to the spell, but it was hard to breathe like this. Maybe that’s the next spell she should work on…

“Oh!” Cayna said as she finally realized what she was doing. She released her hug, simply holding Katie in her fist. “My apologies, I got carried away” she said with an apologetic smile.

“Wh-what…are you even talking about!” Katie shouted in shock as she regained her breath. “W-we’re sisters, aren’t we? There’s no way we could get married!”

“Oh, is that all?” Cayna replied, seeming weirdly relieved. “We don’t have any blood relation. So it’s fine!”

“No no no, there’s no way it’s fine! I mean, mother and father have raised us as siblings! We’re sisters! It would be the same as trying to marry Janice!” she argued back.

“Eh?!” Janice suddenly exclaimed, a slight blush coming across her face. “Wh-what are you talking about! There’s no way you’d want to marry me…” she said, trailing off at the end.

WHY THE HELL WAS SHE REACTING LIKE THAT!?!?!

“Prima” Calliope suddenly spoke up. “I know you can’t remember, so I’ll explain it once more. You’re a Sacred One, a unique being in this world. When I was pregnant, the spirits overwrote all traces of me and your father. You are a completely different species. I may have been the one to birth you, but you actually have no blood connection to anyone in this world” she explained. “We raise you as our daughter, but you are a fairy and we are human. There would be no complications if you had children with Janice.”

“W-wha-!” Katie blurted out in shock. There was no reference to anything like that in the game! Sure, they mentioned that she was a different species. But there was never any openly incestful things in it!

“I…I respectfully decline…” Janice suddenly said, keeping her blushing face turned away.

“N-no, I wasn’t seriously asking…” Katie said, feeling incredibly awkward. That’s when she realized something else.

Janice and Quarz sat together, while Cayna and Primavella sat together. In other words, one side of the table held the blood related siblings. The other held the adopted child and the mutant pretending to be a daughter of Jansgard.

Their silence, their harsh looks…this might have been what made Primavella so cold. Janice and Quarz must hate her for pretending to be a member of this family. It made perfect sense for prideful nobles, who put so much emphasis on bloodlines.

“I…apologize…” Katie suddenly said towards Janice. “You must have really hated to hear something like that from someone that isn’t even your real sister…”

Janice spun around and looked flustered.
“Th-that isn’t-”
“No, I understand. I may have lost my memories, but I can understand. I-I’ll do my best not to upset you and your precious blood sibling in the future…” Katie said. She knew something like this shouldn’t get to her…but a tear did drop from her face onto Cayna’s hand. The fact that Primavella had to be so hated despite being such a good person was heartbreaking…

“Ah! Big sis made Prima cry!” Quarz shouted, standing up from her seat.
“W-wait, that’s not what I-!” she stammered.
“There there, Prima, please don’t cry” Cayna said, gently patting Katie’s head and hugging her once more. Quarz ran around to the otherside of the table, crouching down by Cayna and stroked her back with a finger.

“It’s ok, Prima. If big sis ever tries to bully you, I’ll protect you!” she said comfortingly.

“Jeez, I don’t hate her!” Janice suddenly shouted. “It was just too sudden for a marriage proposal! Where did you even get such an idea?!” she asked, standing up from her seat.

“I…I mean…” Katie stammered, wiping her eyes. “The ‘real’ sisters sit together while the ‘fake’ ones sit together…right?”

“N-not all all! We alternate based off age! Me, then Cayna, then Quarz, then you! Not to mentino, Cayna always wants to sit by you! It’s not like we don’t want to sit next to you too!”

“But…you were both glaring at me…”

“We weren’t glaring! This is just how we look! Just yesterday you looked like this too!” she argued.

Katie looked up, meeting Janice’s eyes. She was clearly embarrassed, but was certainly telling the truth. Then…this was all just her own misunderstanding? She hung her head low, trying to hide her own embarrassment.

“Pfft!” the duchess cracked. She broke out in a small fit of giggles after desperately holding it back during that entire interaction. “Sweetheart, we are your family. We made not be connected by blood, but you are a child of the Jansgard family nonetheless. The same for Cayna. No one in this family could possibly hate you” she said earnestly.

“...I’m sorry” Katie replied.

“It’s fine, dear. I know you’re confused without your memories, so I won’t blame you. Janice, you too. Please be patient for now.”
“I-I understand that much…” she mumbled, sliding back into her seat.

“And Primavella?”

“Yes?”
“Meet with Gremoria tomorrow. See for yourself what kind of person she is. If you still want to break off the engagement after that, I’ll allow it. But try and give her a chance first” she said in a gentle tone.

“...I understand.”

The rest of dinner was spent a lot more peacefully. With the misunderstandings out of the way, Katie had a better understanding of this family. On the outside, they seem cold and strict. But the fact is, they were so stoic that they didn’t show how they felt inside.

Just like how Primavella could be seen as a villainess despite being the heroine, the Jansgard family could be seen as cruel despite being so loving.

Katie was passed around a bit among her siblings as they took turns comforting her or talking about themselves. She made sure to memorize all the information she didn’t already know from the game.

Janice had recently graduated from the academy, so she was 4 years older than Prima. She specialized in magical formulae theory and was working on a thesis. Cayna and Quarz were both one year older, and already entered the academy. Surprisingly, Quarz was in the knights department rather than the magic department. Which explains why she wasn’t in the game at all…

When the meal was done, Frue carried her away. She was brought to a magnificent bathroom, but had to bathe in a small bowl rather than the enormous bath. Apparently, Primavella couldn’t swim so it was too dangerous to let her into the main bath.

It was a shock for Katie as Frue bathed her naked body. Such treatment was normal for noblewomen…but for an average person like her, it was incredibly embarrassing.

It took longer than she expected due to the various skin and hair treatments she received. But by the end of it, she was slightly hypnotized by her reflection in the mirror. Primavella was already so gorgeous, but seeing her silky smooth hair and ‘fresh out of the bath’ look was breathtaking.

Once she was fully dried, Frue took to her back to her room. Dressed in a soft nightgown, she drifted off to sleep on a plush bed.

It’s been quite the hectic day after being reincarnated…but it wasn’t so bad…

When the morning came, Frue helped Katie with getting dressed. It seems about 90% of Primavella’s wardrobe were different black dresses. Apparently it’s her preferene in color. But Katie chose a rather cute white dress instead.

After finishing breakfast with the family, she was brought to a meeting room in the eastern wing of the castle. It was well furnished and displayed expensive art pieces across the walls. This was probably the room for meeting with high status guests.

Katie was sitting in a special made seat in the center of a table between two couches. She was completely alone for once, with Frue waiting outside the door. Apparently it was standard for Primavella to send away all the servants when Gremoria came to visit.

Honestly speaking, she was anxious. Gremoria was the character she hated the most out of the entire cast. A selfish princess that murdered her fiance to try and marry a mistress. The person most responsible for the destruction of Norn once Primavella died. Someone that could have saved the country if she didn’t fall for the seduction of a fraud.

But that was just her character in the game. Reality might be something different, there could have been other factors leading up to this moment. The very least she could do is see what Gremoria was truly like to Primavella.

“Announcing the arrival of her Royal Majesty, Crown Princess Gremoria Norn” Frue said politely as she opened the door. Katie couldn’t help but gasp as she walked in through the door. Gremoria…was truly beautiful…

That long, silky blonde hair.

Perfect skin, as if it was crafted from the finest porcelain.

The manner she held herself in.

And the oddly warm look in those icy blue eyes…

Who?

The woman walking in looks way too different from Gremoria in the game!

“Lady Primavella, it’s such a pleasure to meet with you once more” she said in a friendly tone, giving a polite curtsy. Just hearing that soft voice made her skin shiver…

Katie sucked in a deep breath and gathered up magical energy. She forced it to pump through herself to replace everything currently there.

Cleanse.

Upon her command, foreign magical effects vanished from her body. The hearthrob princess vanished, replaced by the Gremoria she remembered. While still a very lovely woman, the sour expression on her face revealed her true thoughts. She hated being here.

“So, I heard you lost your memories? How the hell does a Sacred One get injured so easily?” she asked spitefully. Though once it was said, Katie heard that soft voice following it up.

“I was devastated by the news of your injury. Losing your memories…do you not recall the times we’ve shared?”

Charm magic!

Primavella had been infected with charm magic! Everytime she saw Gremoria, she saw that false vision of her instead. Heard those sickly sweet words that masked her true feelings. She knew that Gremoria was a piece of shit, but going this far…

Wait…Gremoria can’t cast charm magic. It was never in her spellbook during the game. Someone else had to cast it…was she even aware of it? Maybe she should play along for now.

“Thank you for your concern, your highness” she replied politely. “It was quite a shock. While my memories have not returned, I am hopeful for a full recovery.”
“Is that so? Good. I can’t be known as the princess that failed to protect her fiance from the threat of bread” she said with a sigh.
“I’m relieved to hear that. I would be crushed if you were permanently changed when I wasn’t around to protect you” the sweet voice said.

“So…what brings your highness here today? Surely the crown princess must be incredibly busy?” she asked curiously.

“What? Obviously I’m here to check on you, idiot. As the Sacred One in this country, keeping you happy is a part of my job. No idea why you even like seeing me though…” she grumbled.

“I couldn’t bare to not see your face for so long. You are the most important person in the world to me, you see” the sweet voice chimed.

Ok…it seems like not even Gremoria knew about the charm magic. It could be a plot from the Royal Family. The King would certainly take steps to ensure he acquired the favor of the Sacred One…

“Your Majesty, I am curious. Why do you wish to marry me? I heard that the request was made when we were very young” she asked innocently.

“I don’t. I’ve told you that constantly, but I don’t really have a choice” she answered honestly, a scowl impressed on her face.

“Of course, it was love at first sight! Your lovely visage moved my heart, and I knew you were the only one for me!” the sweet voice replied.

“Honestly, even seeing you regularly like this is annoying. I keep telling father it would be better for me to just absorb your power” she scoffed.

“Being able to visit you regularly uplifts my spirit! I don’t know what I’d do without you!” the voice said.

“In my opinion, the only thing a bug like you would be good for is a snack” she said, licking her lips as she eyed Katie up. “According to my thesis, I can take your mana for myself if I digest you. Though, I’m pretty sure a pervert like you would enjoy that too.”
“You’re such a wonderful person…if only we were already married. I desperately wish to kiss you…” the voice followed.

“ENOUGH!” Katie shouted angrily. She had heard MORE than enough of this! Gremoria jerked in her seat at the sudden shout. Clearly Prima had never spoken up against her before.

A light filled the space as Primavella formed a formulae in the air.
“W-wait a second!” Gremoria shouted in fear, holding her hands in front of her. For all her talk earlier, she clearly knew how powerful Primavella’s magic could be.

But it was too late.

The light flashed brightly for a moment before dissipating. Gremoria stayed still for several seconds before peaking from behind her hands. Nothing seems to have changed…

“Wh-what the hell did you do?” she asked, taking a breath of relief.

“I dispelled the magic cast on you, and myself” she replied frankly. “You were enchanted with charm magic. You looked like a goddess, and every time you spoke a different voice spoke loving words. Now…I see you for the crass princess you are” she said angrily.

The door was thrown open as Frue ran inside.
“M-milady! I saw a flash of light! Are you alright?!” she asked. Katie signaled for Frue to pick her up, to which she quickly complied.

“Gremoria Norn, you need not worry. I shall speak to my mother and have our engagement annulled. We shall not need to meet regularly, and you may live your life apart from as you wished” she said harshly.
“W-wait, annulled? Th-that’s a little hasty, isn’t it?” Gremoria asked nervously.

“You said it yourself, there’s no reason for us be together when neither of us wants to be married.”
“B-but it’s standard for a Sacred One to marry the future monarch!”
“What are you saying? I am the only Sacred One in the world. There’s no reason for me to be tied to someone who can be replaced with one of her siblings” she said spitefully. Signaling to Frue, the maid began to carry her out the door.
“H-hold it! That’s-!” Gremoria shouted after them.

Katie refused to listen and slammed the door behind them with wind magic. As they walked towards the Duchess’s office, Frue spoke up.

“Was that…truly Princess Gremoria?” she asked aloud.
“Hm? Of course it was her. Why?”
“She looked so different from normal. Even from when I let her into the room. Like, she was still very lovely but…something about her has changed…” she commented, failing to find the right words.

Did the charm magic work on everyone? This felt different than the normal spell, especially since Gremoria wasn’t the one casting it. There was nothing in the lore about a spell like this either. Maybe…a secret formulae known only to the royal family?

It wouldn’t be absurd for there to be hidden magics in the world. Something so powerful or complicated that it could be troublesome if others learned it as well.

“That’s because I dispelled the magic cast on her. I think someone in the royal family wanted this marriage badly enough to force two kids together that wouldn’t get along otherwise” she said sadly.

Frue continued onward in shocked silence. She always believed that her lady was truly in love with the princess. But the first time that they met since she lost her memories, she wanted it annulled. To think that the royal family was casting magic on her precious lady for so long…

It was frustrating.

Once the situation was explained to the duchess, an official announcement of the annulment was sent to the Royal Palace. Gremoria boarded her carriage and left that very same day. She requested to meet with Primavella again, but was denied.

Katie watched the carriage leave from her window. The princess had a conflicted expression on her face as she rode away, one that Katie couldn’t read. Was she relieved from the annulment? Nervous of how her family would respond? Maybe she was even sorry for how she’s acted this entire time without knowing that Prima never truely heard a word she said?

Nah, that last one was probably too far…

Once the day was settled, Katie didn’t have much else to do for the day. She practiced a bit more with her magic in the study room.

Mostly, she tried to cast more enchantments on herself. It was easier this time thanks to her previous practice, but it certainly took a lot of mana to pull off.

Her physical damage enchantment was still going strong. It didn’t even need to be refilled, so it would likely last for at least a few days. It would need to be monitored.

After what happened today, she tried a few more experimental spells.

Trying to apply dispelling magic to her eyes failed. It would have been helpful to see through charms or illusions in the future, but it didn’t hold. Perhaps dispel was too complicated to permanently engrain onto her. Or it didn’t have good compatibility with her other enchantment.

The next experiment was a success. She enchanted her lungs to process mana instead of air, so she wouldn’t suffocate as long as she had magical power. Katie held her breath for over 10 minutes without any complications.

She didn’t get lightheaded, and her chest didn’t hurt. But it certainly felt unnatural to not breathe. This was more a backup than anything else.

There was another spell she wanted to imprint on herself right away. An enchantment that would make her resistant to acids. After what Gremoria said today, she couldn’t help but think about how Primavella dies.

Swallowed alive and torn apart by digestive acids. Given Gremoria’s comment earlier, she must have been planning it the entire time they were at the academy together. To avoid such a cruel fate, she would need to ensure she could survive even if she was swallowed whole.

But she had already spent a good amount of mana today. The previous two spells took a lot out of her, and she may pass out before finishing the third. If she ran out of mana, this room would vanish and need to be re-enchanted. Gremoria already left, so she might as well wait until tomorrow.

Dinner, a bath, and back to bed.

Katie was getting used to such glamorous treatment bit by bit. With a slight feeling of accomplishment, she drifted off to sleep.

Katie yawned and stretched her arms out as she sat up in bed. She rubbed her eyes and looked all over the room. It was still completely dark in here, meaning that it was still late at night or very early in the morning.

Her throat was dry and scratchy, she definitely needed some water. She looked over to the far corner of the room where a maid was stationed to handle any night time needs. Katie was about to shout to her when a loud snore cut through the air.

“She’s asleep…” she mumbled to herself. A small fairy like her wouldn’t be able to make enough noise to wake her up easily. “Well…it’s fine. I’m not normally a noblewoman anyways. I can get my own water” she thought aloud as she climbed out of bed.

Katie walked out of the room, using her magic to open the door and close it behind her. The closest place to get water should be the attendant room several doors down. It was almost a mile to Prima’s small body…but it was fine.

“This castle sure is dark at night…” she commented to herself as she walked across the cold stone. The warmth in her feet was quickly sucked away, making her huddle her arms together.

She really needed to practice flying in earnest…

A small breeze came from behind her, sending a slight chill. Was the castle drafty too?

BAM!

Katie gasped as she felt a heavy impact slam into her back. Her enchantment kept her from harm, but she could have died without it. What on earth…

“Ara~ What’s this? A little bug wandering the halls?” a familiar voice sounded out from above. Katie turned her head as she felt long fingers curl around her torso and pick her up off the ground.

As Kaya raised her higher, she tried her best to give a stern glare. But the maid had an excited look in her eyes and slightly drooling. The look didn’t affect her in the slightest.

“And as a proud maid of this household…it’s only right that I handle any little bugs I find~” she announced with a chipper voice.

End Notes:

What's this? Gremoria seems to be ignorant of the magic cast on Primavella. Who could have done such a thing?

And what awaits Katie now that she's been captured by this horny maid? Find out next time!
