A young witch and her adopted brother find themselves with a weekend alone, which gets far more interesting for both when the powerful girl decides she prefers her human sibling on the shorter side.

I love that they are both enjoying this to the point they are exchanging banter. It's nice change of pace!

Does their mother know they play like this?  It seems she's strict about her daughter's magic use.

Author's Response:

Thanks man. Their interaction here is definitely meant to have a gentler vibe than my usual stuff.

Their mother probably does know. She's actually not that strict on Roxy's magic, only when it's being used to cheat.

Another great chapter.

It seems like the event with Elisara really affected her, though it also sounds like Elisara didn't mean any harm.

Author's Response:

Thanks! It did affect her, though really more just for the general humiliation of it, since Roxy feels so comfortable now with being empowered. And Elisara was just being a kid, albeit a fairly gigantic one.

Another great chapter.  It seems being that small has it's advantages, at least when it comes to making food last.

Author's Response:

Gotta think on the positive side!

Grace better be careful, i'm thinking Roxy won't be happy if Grace harms her brother.

Bet he wishes he had gone with his sister shopping right about now.

Author's Response:

He's probably wishing a lot of things, mostly that Roxy would hurry up with the shopping now.

I wonder who Grace should be scared of most, Roxy or Roxy and Allen's mother.

I mean, they both seem pretty protective of Allen.

Author's Response:

Roxy and Allen's mother would have the easiest time at stopping Grace, but Roxy herself can get pretty creative when the people she cares about are in trouble.

Love that Roxy arrived at the nick of time. Grace might be a prodigy, but it seems Roxy still has experience on her side.

Also, what joke is Roxy talking about at the end?

Author's Response:

Right. Grace has a bit of an edge over Roxy for power, but the latter has still put in more time with her talents.

Roxy's referring to the whole act of putting Allen in her mouth. She meant the "telling" part of the joke somewhat metaphorically.

I love how you brought back the closet trap that was mentioned earlier, very well done. I also look forward to seeing how Roxy will deal with Grace.

Author's Response:

Thanks! I figured 2 mentions of a plot device saves it from being a total deus ex machina...

Fantastic end! Looks like even Grace has something she's scared off. I look forward to seeing what kind of punishment the witch queen will give Grace.

Author's Response:

Thanks! We may not necessarily directly see Caroline doling out a punishment, but there will definitely be repercussions of all this seen in future stories.

I also hope we see Roxy and her brother again in future stories, I really liked them. I also hope we see more of their mother in future stories.

Author's Response:

Roxy and Allen will still be the focal point of the next story. I do plan to include their mother eventually as well.

Summary:

An evolutionary rift causes millions of seemingly ordinary people to decrease in size.  Stripped of far more than the right to be called “human,” the victims will find themselves in a very large world of hurt, or maybe just in a very large shoe.

It was nice to see the shrinkers win one, even if it means having to find a new home.

I do feel bad for the girls. They had good intentions, even if they didn't understand the shrinkers didn't want to be pets. They also weren't cruel like other regular sized people in these stories.

Author's Response:

Feeling bad for the girls is a fair reaction. At least a few stories in this collection are meant to show there can be negative effects on everyone, tiny or not, because of the cruel hierarchy. Thanks for reading!

Another great shrinker story and i like that Julie and Richard got a relatively happy ending.

Author's Response:

Thanks! I figured at least one shrinker in this set should get an okay ending...

So why is Amelia so well behave? Was she always like that or was she more rebellious at first?

I'm guessing Sally no being cruel like other regular sized people probably helps.

Author's Response:

Probably a mix. She may have been the more docile of the twins, but also she's logical enough to know from history that rebelling in this world does not get you anywhere.

And yes, it helps Sally isn't as overtly cruel.

Poor Amanda, being denied even that. Was Sally being mean or did she just genuinely didn't like Amanda's choice?

Author's Response:

She just genuinely didn't like the choice. Sally really doesn't do anything purely out of cruelty to her sister, though many of her impulses for fun lead to it anyway.

That's an interesting bit of information, i didn't think people of this world cared enough about shrinkers to put out rewards if they go missing. Or return one they find for that matter.

I mean, besides the story with the sister and her brother, it didn't seem like people cared enough about shrinkers to put much effort into finding a missing one.

Author's Response:

That would be true probably 90% of the time, however, in this case, Nel's family is looking forward to handling her shrunken with particular pleasure. So they just might be willing to shell out a little to get her back. There also are families that do care for their shrinkers enough to try to keep them safe, as we will see in one of the later stories of this set. But the majority would just shrug and move on.

At least  Sherry seems nice, though the couple might need to worry about her mother.

Author's Response:

Probably an understatement there.

All things considered, it sounds like he's better off with his sister, going by how his parents have treated him.

Author's Response:

Damned if he does, slightly less damned if he doesn't.

I gotta respect Nel for facing her family head on. I gotta wonder why she doesn't just runaway though, just so her family doesn't have the satisfaction of tormenting her i mean.

Author's Response:

Fair question; it's for a couple reasons. If she ran away and happened to be discovered by the right people, she might just be returned for a reward to her family, which would bring even more wrath down. The other reason is that she didn't want to give them the satisfaction of her being afraid. She intends to do her best to make them feel powerless, no matter how much control they have over her.

Summary:

A brother, haunted by the years of shrunken captivity he spent beneath his younger sister’s foot, struggles to confront his demons and, ultimately, the demented girl who stole his humanity.

So glad that you're back!

Michelle seems really nice, makes me wonder why she's working for Claire. I also wonder if Michelle also looks after June Young since she supposed to be in this lab too. If so, it's good to know June has someone nice taking care of her.

Author's Response:

I hope to make Michelle's purpose here a little clearer later on. Part of it is just that Claire knows how to get what she needs from people no matter what.

Great chapter, it was nice seeing Carly being the one on the receiving end of some foot punishment for a change.

I do wonder how Carly thinks she's going to "hold" her brother, they are the same size.

Author's Response:

To Carly, it's just sort of an inevitability that she'll get what she wants again; she hasn't thought out the specifics.  :)

Another great chapter!

You know, i am starting to wonder if Dr.Fenton isn't intentionally making these hallucinations go off the rails.

Though it could just be the PTSD.

Author's Response:

Ha. Fortunately, I'm not quite mean enough to make the doctor evil when Jack's already got so many other problems.
