Funny story and one that I've not shared. I was sad to see the stories unfinished, so I found him on deviantart and messaged him to see if he would allow me to finish it. To my surprise, he not only let me but gave me the keys to Far From Home and this story, probably further ones too. So we are co authors, where I wrote them and he edits to make sure they fit in with the whole universe of Vandan, but he also lets me exercise my creativity and doesn't change much at all. Hope that goes you an idea. If you know Star Wars I'm like the Dave filoni to his George Lucas

Also Acrophite here, thanks for voicing your opinion here! It is tough to see Valerie go, believe me. I got the outline to this story almost a year ago and learning this was tough, so as a huge fan of this series as you are, I feel you. I think Malaka shared his goals well though, and as I wrote it the more fitting it felt. And she will live on through her children for many stories to come.
