Wow, if Sharon set this up to position herself as rescuer, it's a high-risk strategy. Mandy might seriously injure or kill Peter before he's "rescued," and Mandy could also say something that would implicate Sharon.

A lot turns on Sharon's ultimate motives. I can't think she simply wants Peter harmed; I think she wants him dependent. On her.

Or she just likes the sensation of having a five-inch-tall person in her hand (and elsewhere?).

Author's Response:

As usual, I'll vaguely say you're right about some things here and some not. But it's absolutely valid to think that Mandy is the kind of wild-card who couldn't really be entrusted with a vital part of a plan.

It wouldn't surprise me if Sharon set this up so she could save the day. Easy scapegoat in Mandy and a new way to guilt Peter into being nice to her.

On another note I only just found this story on Tuesday and have plowed through to the end already. Great stuff.

Author's Response: I'll just keep my lips zipped shut. And kudos on consuming that many words in a short time span. I'm glad you're enjoying the story.

I haven't been this frightened of a basement since Buffalo Bill's. While Peter's been doing a fair job keeping Mandy in a non-punitive mood, there's still a lot of accidental peril. I doubt that basement is arthropod-free.

Author's Response:

It rubs the giant spiders on its skin or else it gets the hose again

I suppose Mandy half-on her meds is better than _completely_ off her rocker!

But, not by much.

Author's Response:

Unfortunately Mandy's in a constant state of on and off

Clearly Mandy has issues -- mental issues. She seeing a psych, taking medication, etc. The only silver lining: these same issues may blind her to the obvious, i.e., her house will be the first one police visit as she's instantly the prime suspect given her prior behavior around Peter.

I have a hunch that Sharon, of all people, will ring Mandy's doorbell before the police. Will she rescue Peter? Well, she'd definitely be a step up from Mandy in terms of safety. Looking forward to more!

Author's Response:

You're right to think so about the disadvantages and small silver lining. The whole situation is a gamble for Peter, if he can play it right.

We may not quite see that happen with Sharon, but I'd also be lying if I said she wouldn't have a good guess about where Peter is at this moment.

Author's Response:

You can say that again
