would one use the respective tense when saying "you first" to someone that told them to go to Hell? I enjoyed the story.

Author's Response: Well, like it or not, that's where that particular piece of slang came from: the not-always-deserved reputation the Rom ("gypsy" self-designation) had for con artistry. The noun, in turn, came from their telling medieval Europeans that they originally hailed from Egypt! Of course, it's long since been linguistically proven that their language, Romany, is closer to certain dialects in India.
