Title: Chapter 1: Warmth in a Cold Cave
Hey man I read your other responses, and wanted to say this. Its okay if you don't finish a story on this website. Many people write stories on this website to relax or for their own enjoyment. Many don't finish, and some take a while to post another chapter due to writer's block or something happening in their lives. That being said don't beat yourself up because someone else's story seems better than yours or you aren't as skilled as others. No one on this website is a professional with most having a less "plot based" story progression than others. I love your stories, its why I leave reviews. Mostly reviews are suggestions, but seriously you don't need to listen to them if you don't want to. Your stories are a good read and are better than anything I can think of and put on paper. (Metaphorically speaking) Don't be to critical of yourself, its good to look at past writings and improve upon them. However putting yourself down due to being over critical of your writing will have a harsh impact on the enjoyment of writing on this site. Don't feel pressured to continue to write though if you don't want to, its important that you enjoy writing. Anyways hope to see more of your stories, and hope you don't doubt yourself to much in the future. I wanted to let you know that I have been typing away at a story, I was inspired inpart by you (and others) to try a hand at making a story. I'm not a good writer so I probably won't post it here (Mostly writing for my own enjoyment), but you inspired me to try it out. If it looks good enough to me might post a chapter on here. (Seriously i don't know how to make a story drawn out with good pacing)
Author's Response: Thanks for the feedback! I check my reviews like once a month or so, and I'm happy I chose today to do so. Actually I've been itching to type again, the urge comes and goes. I'm never happy with what I post but it is therapeutic to get these ideas out of my mind, so I'll likely never quit. I'm not sure if I have any advice on pacing, I struggle with that, myself. I'll just think of things at work or lying in bed for a few days until a short story has formed, and then I'll possibly share it here. I prefer to type happy, gentle stuff usually, because when I'm going through a breakup or having a spot of depression in my life, I like to type up a more happy world. And this might go without saying, but some of the female characters in my stories are directly based off of crushes, exes, or girlfriends I've had in real life. Sometimes I feel like my characters, however, seem to be written one dimensionally. To me, they feel like the same people, with different settings.
And I urge you to try and post your thing anyway. That's how we all start, usually. We're all inspired by other works we've seen. I've read some of the sweetest shit over a decade, and I wish I could share them all.
I might go home tonight and type for two hours and see what happens. That's usually enough for 2,000 words or so.
Have a good one!
