It unquestionably rounds out the story better. Turns the previous moment into foreshadowing, and "rewards" his curiosity as the previous reviewer said, with poetic justice. It serves the narrative better. I'm very glad to see you submitting things again. If I hadn't found you on big gulp I probably wouldn't have started writing.

I also thought it served the narrative better.I havefond memories of Big Gulp. When I first got on the internet, many years ago, I discovered Big Gulp and realized I was not alone in my fantasies. I am glad that my stories inspired you to write. I too was inspired initially by a writer Andrew Nellis aka "Poison Pen"

I can definitely see the influence of the source material. Yours is more violent though. I enjoy disparity. The happy family contrasted with the cruelty towards the prisoners.
I wouldn't worry about your English. It was better than many native speakers.

It's good to see another story from you. I enjoyed the writing voice. It was different, but it felt natural. I like fixed point of views and try not to jump around too much in most of my stories. I had a workaround in "A Good Man is Hard to Find" for the first person death, but in another story I'm working on, I figure he isn't telling the story so much as you are in his head.
I like unaware for similar reasons. Catastrophic things are happening for one character while another goes innocently about their day.
